FURIOSA (George Miller, 2024) It's funny that I did not like this when I saw it in an IMAX with a raucous crowd. I was feeling hormonal & I was pissed off at everything, including the film. I rewatched it six months later and thought it ruled. Some Sergio Leone shit. ZARDOZ IN THE WASTELAND.

I made a similar joke yesterday, but I guarantee someone at Neon really wants to call this BACKROADS. It's gonna get some comparisons to BACKROOMS, though it premiered over a year ago on the festival circuit, predating the current trends. Cool As fuck vibes driven cosmic horror. Highly recommended.

NEW POSTER - On August 21, IT ENDS. Only in theaters from NEON. Four friends post-college plans are derailed when a wrong turn traps them on a never-ending backroad.

I've seen a lot of fellow writers post stories about getting shafted. Most don't name the outlet, and I don't blame them one bit. Times are terrible. You could still wind up needing a gig from the place. So I deeply admire Jason for having the guts to name Vulture and give the details.

Well, it’s invoicing day, and since they’re really apparently not going to pay me for something I wrote for them two months ago, I guess today is the day to post about how @vulture.com fucks over its film freelancers. Long (sorry) thread, with receipts:

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY (2026; d. Destin Daniel Cretton): If you are now or have ever been single for a meaningful length of time, especially due to circumstances not of your own choosing, you can definitely relate to Peter Parker (Tom Holland). ...

COLONY is a solid riff on TRAIN TO BUSAN from the same director. Not up to the level of TRAIN, but still good fun and ideal summer movie entertainment. The @fantasiafestival.com ate it up, for sure. In theaters next month from the fine folks at @wellgousa.bsky.social.

KING OF THE HILL, S15 E02 (2026; #Hulu): The perfect desert; something to send me smiling to sleep. Even though I've lived in Dallas for nigh on 20 years, I never appreciated it until binging last year's revival season. Now, I want it to last as long as possible, so, ...

FURIOUS, EP 1-3 (#Hulu, 2026): Inspired by Ronald Bass' BLACK WIDOW screenplay, creator/writer Elizabeth Meriwether has fashioned a series that, in its first 3 episodes, becomes increasingly gripping, thanks to the increasingly compelling performance by Emmy Rossum. I need to decompress now.

I just watched the new Supergirl movie, and it’s absolutely amazing. I don’t get where all the hate is coming from, but honestly, anyone who doesn’t like this film is missing out.
