Every time someone says that people need "training in AI" I struggle to understand how you train someone to use the "ask me anything, at anytime, for any reason" machine, or why you would need to.

I regularly think back to @okwonga.bsky.social's posts which (to paraphrase) highlighted one of Germany's biggest political challenges being an older middle-class which is well off, comfortable as a result, and in turn bored; so they ended up essentially radicalising themselves at dinner parties.

Valet står mellan socialism och barbari, och sossarnas ledning föredrar den uppenbara risken för kommande barbari (och att bibehålla existerande barbari) framför att driva socialistisk politik.

It does seem odd that Epstein was able to directly suborn at least one serving government minister, while flying his private plane in and out of military bases in Britain and visiting e.g. Buckingham Palace and one of the royal family’s private retreats. Presumably nothing dodgy going on there.

Roger Watt@rjwatt42.bsky.social · 11h agoHere's an interesting comparison. When I became Dean (last century) it was because I had been elected as such by my fellow academics from the faculty professoriate. That meant those above had to negotiate with me rather than dictate to me.
if a muslim immigrant wrote an article stating he wanted to rape british schoolchildren (as liddle did) the press now praising liddle would be outraged. not on behalf of any potential danger to children, though, they don't care about that. they'd be outraged at the writer not knowing his place
the mainstream press praising rod liddle in death are not unaware he was a bigoted pedophile, they like him for it. the people in their in-group, at the top of their hierarchy, getting away with crimes signals that the world is in order. it is a moral good, to them. the bigger the crimes the better
