These gloves don't cause neuromuscular incapacitation the way that a taser does. In fact, they only work when applied directly to bare skin. These aren't made for apprehending anyone. These have one and only one use: causing extreme pain to already-restrained captives. In plain language: torture.

Zero surprise that these are explicitly designed to cause pain without leaving a mark, not to incapacitate. Yes, we're spending $20M to buy ICE agents torture devices.

The press in this country can hound anyone out of work or their lives with no repercussions. I know -it's happened to my family when my partner got it in his head that trans people might exist- so he got death threats and lost work because the press thought that might be fun. We haven't recovered.

This bit here I have to stress--because it really matters: This is all about racism, and was only ever about racism. As far as the press was concerned, whether any plagiarism or intellectual dishonesty had actually occurred was irrelevant. Here, I'll prove it: Imagine he was White.

While this was all happening, friends and I were literally listing off senior white men who were still in post despite not being able to work with students because they're actual sex offenders.

I think it's bad that the UK press can escalate what is essentially a workplace matter into national news ahead of the fucking country being on fire and then get away with hounding their victim until they die.

There is a very high risk of wildfires globally. Governments and businesses should not undertake any activity that could increase this, including deforestation and extracting, refining, or burning fossil fuels. Even a small amount of additional CO2 can add to global heating.

Don't mind me, I'm off to gut higher education, one of the UK's most successful and globally respected exporting industries, because I think doing so will let me defeat white nativism with immigration charts. I am the most naive human being alive.

Larry Ellison has been absolutely clear that he sees AI primarily as a tool to force the public to behave themselves, and you can imagine what that crank thinks is good behaviour. Our Home Secretary thinks they’re building a digital panopticon.

Really? Is that it? If this is all that’s come from COBR, it’s pitifully inadequate. As crisis deepens, it beggars belief that there aren’t eg plans to increase resources for the fire service, support for farmers, max workplace temperature, funded community cool spaces & obvs ban on new fossil fuels
