I wonder about people sometimes. Folks passing around AI art as their own because they put in all the right keystrokes to get a black box to spit out what they wanted. That means you created it? If you push a button and put money in a vending machine, and out pops a cookie, did you make the cookie?

1DLife working on a NABU computer! I did have to cheat to get it to work, though. The original BASIC program produced an error, so I had AI (sigh... I know) fix it for me so it works on NABU. I don't know how to program in BASIC (or any language). 😅 Inspired by the recent video by Usagi Electric.

The butchering of id software, in the midst of a brilliant comeback for the studio over the last 10 years, feels like a punch to the gut. I don't see how they can recover from this. After 35 years, id software is effectively gone. Can't believe it.

I’m so sorry for everyone at id Software affected by these layoffs. I know what it feels like to leave id while id goes on. It’s a strange and painful thing to step away from a place that holds so much of your work, friendships and history. 1/5

The fall-out from the ending of physical games has been eye-opening for me, in a good way. I've collected retro games, sure, but I've bought digital games almost as long. I thought discs were barely clinging on, but turns out there's a large, passionate following, with many strong reasons behind it

I haven't written a blog post in two years, but I was compelled for some reason to write an article today on the state of the tech/gaming industry. I even included an audio version if you prefer listening! reputator.blogspot.com/2026/06/tech...

Technology isn't just stagnating, it's going backwards

Pricing for the Steam Machine.. oof. Quite possibly the worst case scenario, but then it's releasing at the worst possible time. It will probably sell out for a good while but that doesn't necessarily mean it's selling in high numbers.

The 3D Rage, ATI’s first 3D ""accelerator"". And yeah this was a rough one to start off with, but it was one of the first ever available, and the starting point for MUCH better things to come. Just arrived in the mail today. Super excited to add this one!

Close up of a quad flat-packed chip on a green PCB, with silkscreen on it showing the ATI logo and 3D RAGE(TM) on the first line, followed by serial and other numeric markings underneath.Hand holding a small green, rectangular PCI card for a PC, with several black chips soldered on. One large chip in the upper right corner has an upside-down sticker which reads "PCI MACH64 GT", with a revision number underneath, and "(C)1996" underneath that.
