I love science fiction, and Mike Carey's Pandemonium books are all about AI as sentient beings, just as his Felix Castor series was about ghosts and demons. The key word here, though, is "fiction". I love science writing as well, and there's a difference.

I may be taking too big a swing here, but I feel like if you have so fully onboarded the dehumanizing message that your body requires violence to make it worthy, you may have other issues. And they may very well include dehumanizing other people's bodies, too.
