as a kid i imagined the typical CEO as being this cigar-chomping man in a pinstripe suit yelling "get those numbers up, no excuses" actually so many of them are just fad-chasing losers

Post coding agents, it's amazing to realize how "I need to do this myself because I know what I want" meant exactly the opposite. You did not know what you wanted, that's why you can't verbalize it. You only know that if you type and mechanically follow your intuition, you will get where you want.

i think a lot of studios are realizing that they've just been trying way too hard by making actual tv shows, movies, etc and that a terrifying number of people just want absolute lowest-investment dogshit they can use to completely zone out

I can confirm that studios are obsessed with these and with getting them right. The success of YouTube shorts and, like, TikTok, Instagram, et al has caused something close to panic. A deluge is coming.

the written record of antiquity, for reasons I hope are obvious, over represents the blinkered moral perspectives of that day's most powerful people. you should take the care with generalizing from their opinions that you'd want a foreigner to take if a tech CEO was asked about your country's morals

Your AI assistant just suggested an npm package. It looks real, it's well-named, it solves your exact problem. It also never existed until an attacker registered the name & filled it with malware. That's slopsquatting. 🧵

I agree that it costs less to distill stuff, and I agree that’s a business problem for Anthropic. But that’s business, baby. Costs less to make a knock off iPhone after seeing it made in a local factory too. Get good at marketing, not regulatory capture. Win the consumer, not the oligarch. <fin>

Vera Rubin is a worthy namesake for this NVIDIA platform, but when I see it on a news feed, my first thought is that Vera Bradley has done some bizarre tech deal $NVDA $VRA

I'm curious about this ritual of printing boilerplate PR replies, is it just a courtesy to preserve access? Is it covering some legal base or satisfying a journalistic principle? It's only fair to print *substantive* responses, but why waste readers' time with empty ones?
