a looooot of people are trying to go "this is a flattery machine of course men would fall for the flattery machine" but like, tons of people are falling prey to versions of this _that don't do sycophancy_ they're doing it because _it's constantly responding to their input_

So, perhaps you're not vulnerable to the scam that is LLMs. That's great! You ARE, however, vulnerable to *some* scam. Being vulnerable and potentially susceptible to scams is not a character flaw, it's part of being human.
It's not at all surprising to me that someone whose entire public persona is based off being someone "who learns and shares things" + "produces 'content' at a rate to satisfy an algorithm" was pulled in by this garbage, that's the whole scam, promising you'll be even "faster and better and smarter"

Saying "I'd never fall for a scam" is foolish because EVERYONE is susceptible to falling for a scam, they just need to be vulnerable to it.
Literally had no idea who Rod Liddle was- but man the UK responses to his demise are eloquent, witty, dry-humoured poetry with incredible snap to them. Imagine someone so reviled that the world found out about him through his trending passing. Brilliantly done UK. 👏😂
Librarians destroy books *all the time* y'all. It's fine. If you feel so deeply that a physical copy of a work must be preserved I suggest you be the one to preserve it. But you will quickly discover the problem with claiming that everything everyone has ever written must be preserved in hard copy.

In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
Just to be clear on this article, the position I took isn't "developers need to be more brave" but "funding needs to be more brave". Developers make all the cool stuff, just because they want to - the funding side hits it with market research and fear and growth targets and shareholders.
