A freighter has seemingly run over a small boat with a family of four in Swedens west coast archipelago. Dusk, rain and bad visibility. The Russian-crewed, Norwegian-owned suspect ship has been detained. Mother and a minor kid is missing while the father + minor is in hospital.

ATESH❗️ The occupiers are removing transformers from pumping stations of the North Crimean Canal, in an attempt to restore electricity on the peninsula.

Agents of "ATESH," working in one of the Russian administrations in Crimea, report that the occupying authorities have begun dismantling power transformers from pumping stations of the North Crimean Canal. The equipment is being transported to electrical substations that have been damaged by strikes from the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The reason is simple: Russia simply doesn't have any spare transformers left. After systematic strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russia's energy infrastructure, the occupiers are forced to cannibalize their own infrastructure – removing equipment from one facility to cover gaps in others. A new transformer of this class takes from six months to a year and a half to manufacture, and sanctions prevent it from being quickly purchased abroad.

They are not removing the weakest equipment. Powerful 10-40 MVA transformers are being removed – these previously powered large pumping stations, such as PS-355 on the Connecting Canal. This is versatile equipment that is suitable for almost any substation.

Currently, objects that supply the defense industry, railway junctions, air defense systems, radars, and command posts are critically important for the Russian command. Transferring transformers from "dead" pumping stations to these facilities is an attempt to quickly restore power, without waiting for new deliveries from abroad or lengthy production.

But this is a dead-end path. The amount of equipment that can be removed from other facilities is decreasing in Russia, and each new strike by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the energy sector will create a new gap that cannot be filled.

For reference: the canal itself has been practically out of operation since June 2023. After Russia blew up the Kakhovka HPP, the water level in the Dnieper at the intake dropped below the critical level, and the supply of Dnieper water to Crimea ceased. Since then, the pumping stations have been idle
