Lol, good. Unlike the teachings of the far-right Evangelical types, Catholicism is not anti-social nor alarmist & anti-science. The Church has pretty explicitly said they view vaccination as a moral obligation to the common good. The opinions of individual anti-vax "Catholics" are irrelevant.

This is the funniest shit. Florida allows religious exemptions for vaccines. Catholic schools in Florida: we require vaccines. Florida's attorney general, who is Catholic, is threatening to pull vouchers if they don't allow for religious exemptions The Bishops: separation of church & state

Had a fun time at the Dublin (Ohio) Irish Festival last weekend. Seeing an Irish wolfhound in person was unreal! It was also nice volunteering for something non-political. Although... Quite a few people were asking about their chances for getting Irish citizenship bc they wanna leave the US 😭 Mood.

My diehard MAGA neighbor in Orlando is done with Trump. It wasn’t the corruption. Not the authoritarianism. Not the cruelty. Not the bigotry. Not the xenophobia. Not even the Iran war. It was the prices. Gas and groceries. He says he sees now that Trump just doesn’t care. He’s finished.

Should the Mayor of New York City attend the 9/11 remembrance because he's the Mayor and he was in fact in NYC on 9/11? Or should a handful of bigots get a veto they are raising in bad faith so they can also criticize the Mayor for not going? Good of you to raise these questions, CNN. Tough call.

Twenty-five years after the mayor of New York City became the champion of America's grief and resilience at the time of the 9/11 attacks, families of those killed are split on whether the current mayor should attend the annual remembrance. https://cnn.it/4zkKYdc

I reckon that a lot of people don't explicitly want socialism, but that DSA candidates are often, seemingly, the only Democrats with enough of a spine to stand up for what they believe in - and more importantly - to LOUDLY stand against fascism. The era of "strongly worded letters" needs to be over.

I think there's a fundamental split within the group of people who are opposed to the current government and its authoritarian tendencies. One group wants to recover the system that was in place ten years ago. The other group sees that system as gone, and is thinking about what needs to be built.

There was a lot to like at ISMA's conference this week. I don't want my Angry Poasting to give the impression otherwise. But I am here responding to one specific panel, whose worldview is a serious impediment to securing long term victory (with a shout out to @dandrezner.bsky.social within)

The next Democratic President needs to offer reparations for everyone impacted by the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign. One such idea could be allowing anyone who was wrongfully deported re-entry and perhaps a more streamlined pathway to citizenship. If they even want it anymore…

Fox allowed Kanye West to buy a Super Bowl at pointing to his Yeezy website where he’s selling swastika branded t-shirts, because of course we’re in the new Nazi normal

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall. They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+. Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them. I think about it a lot in moments like this.

I saved up for a family trip to Italy. Tickets were purchased. We were so excited. My kids passport with new gender marker was just suspended. They are terrified to even leave the country. I am going to have to cancel our trip I will never be able to afford it again I’m terrified and heartbroken
