Luckily, I felt like Starmer trained me to handle disillusion in Labour, so when Burnham came along I could already feel the "new boss, same as the old boss" vibe. As far as electoral politics go, for me, it's the @greenparty.org.uk or bust — not sure anyone else can be trusted!
Our rapid disillusionment with political leaders is treated by much of the media as some kind of pathology. But what I see is these leaders backtracking on their promises, dashing people's hopes and serving the ultra-rich ahead of the rest of the population. Why wouldn't we be disillusioned?
I hope Tim Curry has moved on to the one place that hasn’t been corrupted by capitalism…

Pepper update! Bigger, leafier, and FILLED with peppers — some are even starting to turn red! I reckon I'll be eating some of them before too long! 🫑 🤤
Update on the pepper plants: THEY'RE GROWING PEPPERS! I don't know why I'm surprised, but I'm feeling an odd sense of pride in becoming a pepper-poppa 🫑
Techbros seem to love Tolkien, so here's an analogy to help you understand what genAI is. GenAI is The One Ring. You think your use is justified, b/c you don't have evil in your heart. But it came from evil, it is intended for evil purpose, & anything you do with it will be twisted to that end.
I cannot stress enough: the AI bubble has already popped it is just being kept on life support by corporations trying to squeeze even a dollar more out of their shit investment, and tech bros doing the same before abandoning their shit company startups. keep hating on AI, you're winning
Report Suggests Nearly No One Is Buying AI Generated Goods https://kotaku.com/3d-model-markets-are-being-flooded-with-ai-sellers-but-no-ones-buying-2000724790
"I think it’s more powerful to assert that we don’t use AI because it has no useful place in our process [...] Using AI would be a bad idea because it would make our work worse — we’re not just resisting it for moral reasons." 💯
It is once again Sunday, and (somewhat against my better judgement) I have written some more words about using AI to make games: medium.com/@rickyhagget...
Spoiler alert the actual developers in the trenches are not the most expensive part of making a game www.productionalchemist.com/p/inever-see...
I Have Never Seen a Game Fail Because the Artists Were Too Slow
AI is optimising the cheapest part of production

Some person quoted me saying gray morality leads to fascism bc right and wrong are blurred and ppl get sympathetic for the bad guys???? Gray morality in fiction encourages critical thinking. Believing everything is either Good or Evil is how you get ppl enforcing censorship and thought crimes shit.
This happened to someone I knew, too. RIP Gary 🙏
a lot of people don't know this, but you should never, ever mess with moles

You can move less than 100 miles and be in a completely diff jobs and skills environment.'The idea that a young person's interests, aptitudes and talents need to be moulded to fit their locality is A grade provincialism. I mean, sure, some people don't ever move but esp given limited immigration
Maaayte, that performance looks incredible! If only 😭
Over a year ago, we built a prototype for a new Myst Universe game meant for publisher eyes only. This project is NOT in active development, but we're proud of the work the team did, and wanted to share it with you all. Presenting: Project Anglerfish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvNGt02yZNc
Slowly chewing my way through War and Peace, and my favourite part so far is 100% Prince Andrey having an existential crisis and reinventing himself every time he passes the same damn oak tree! 🌳 R E L A T A B L E
THIS IS AN ACCELERATION MOMENT. Brace yourself kiddos. And remember, crucial components of your political organizations SHOULD NOT BE ONLINE. Offline that shit. Online is just for getting eyeballs. Don't organize, plan, strategize, etc... online.
FYI
@duckaislop.bsky.social — Have y'all thought of doing these on Steam as a curator? That way you'd show up on the store page with a big'ol "don't recommend", which'd be super helpful!

So, literally ~2 months ago, on a whim, I sprinkled some leftover seeds from a pepper I'd cut-up for dinner into a couple pots and gave'em some water AND NOW LOOK AT THESE BEAUTIES?! Holy hell! I wish all plants were this easy to grow?! 😍🌱
Few people understand the scope of the powers UK governments have granted themselves, to criminalise us as terrorists for expressing an opinion. Fewer still understand how illiberal the Court of Appeal judgement is. But @davidallengreen.bsky.social does.🧵 www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/law/th...

this pub is rejecting flyers made with AI. This should be the policy of everyone who owns a venue. We can’t allow poisonous slop to seep into every aspect of our lives
Thomas House of Dublin exhibiting the pro-human solidarity that all of us should demonstrate.
No obvious blunders besides being on the wrong side of Epstein, putting grandmothers in UK Guantanamo, supporting genocide, installing draconian internet measures, failing the trans community, failing the Muslim community, but generally it comes down to having the spine of an octopus.
Seen from abroad it's hard to make sense of what happened to Starmer. Big majority, centrist, fairly united party, no obvious blunders -- and somehow it went off the rail in just a few years. Political scientists will have their work cut out on this one.
Verrrry tempted this year 👀
The InkJAM is back! Celebrating 9 years, we're running a 9-day jam starting August 15th. The jam invites creators to submit a piece of a new something (game, experiment, whatever) made with @inkle.co's ink narrative language. itch.io/jam/inkjam-2... A "theme" will be announced on day 1 of the jam.
