Rolling out “academic freedom” as a rallying cry now, after the CRT panic led to a bunch of Black scholars and theory to be literally banned from classrooms, shit is too rich lol

They want to shield racists, and make it out of line to describe people as racist, because they believe in racism and would like to proliferate racist ideas with as little friction as possible.

Breaking my heart this morning: “Fitting ankle monitors on noncitizens without a criminal history who remain in compliance with their immigration cases has little precedent.” True in the narrowest sense. False given how the history of slavery and peonage roars through each part of this story.

For the last seven months straight, the U.S. government has refused to process immigrant visas for nationals of 75 countries around the world; including visas for spouses of U.S. citizens. Today, a federal judge ruled the policy flagrantly illegal.

I applaud the takedown of illegal orders, but we need a better system because the one we have can't keep up. When the courts take 7 months to do this, the bad guys still win. They're flooding the zone, knowing that even this ruling will be appealed, paused, etc. for another 7 months, then another.

You'd better believe it.
