With all due respect to Supabase. I am sure it's a great piece of software (it sits on top of Postgres, after all). Sadly, it has turned into a Mar-a-Lago for bros who want to teach you how to build software, without having written a single line of code in their lives.

the more people I talk to, the more convinced I am that (it's probably fair to say) none of us is okay we're in this together my friends 🫂

You don’t need a detector for AI-generated text. You need a detector for mediocre and low-to-average text. That’s a far more difficult job. But not impossible.

It's way, way overdue, but Generative Art in #golang is now officially typo-free (something it should have been since 2021, but better late, than never). Naturally, I'd like to celebrate it, so I created a limited offer which should give new readers a 33% discount. p5v.gumroad.com/l/generative...

Generative Art in Go

Generative Art in Go is an eBook intended to introduce novice and experienced programmers to algorithmic art, and hopefully, get non-programmers interested in the Go programming language. Unlike…

Life advice, you didn't ask me for: Your nervous system learned early that needing things out loud gets you nothing. So, you stopped asking and called it independence. That wiring served you then. It costs you now.

With all due respect, neither the #ActivityPub, nor #ATProto will create a new Web. The Web was a happy coincidence, not something designed by committee. You cannot engineer virality. It just happens. RSS happened. ATProto is interesting from a technical perspective, but way too over-engineered.

babe is everything okay? you've barely touched your five mutually exclusive boolean props that should have been a single enum.

Have you had that awkward feeling, when you are able to speak the mother tongue of the other side, but you two have been talking in English for whole Eternity, so you just get along with it?

The macOS 27 changes to Liquid glass are welcome changes but also make it all the more apparent that some of the designs that shipped in 26 never should've gone past the prototyping stage.

Apple is dropping support for 4 generations of Apple Watch models with watchOS 27. If you own a three-year-old Apple Watch Series 9 or the original Apple Watch Ultra, no watchOS 27 for you. Lots of iPad models getting dropped too 🤯 www.theverge.com/news/946147/...

Sad to say, decades later, I'm *sure* that the clever crontab syntax is not the right long-term solution to the problem. It's just too hard for humans to parse even with tons of experience. The non-standard attempts at adding "@hourly" and /etc/cron.hourly did solve this problem to a large extent.

Each line of a crontab file represents a job, and looks like this:

  * * * * * <command to execute>
# | | | | |
# | | | | day of the week (0–6) (Sunday to Saturday;
# | | | month (1–12)             7 is also Sunday on some systems)
# | | day of the month (1–31)
# | hour (0–23)
# minute (0–59)

Thinking of MCP as “service discovery” is about the same as thinking of blockchains as “storage.” Does the job within the tight circumstances, but pretty terrible for any general-purpose use. To dissuade management and CTOs from slapping the term MCP on any API imaginable (because they will).
