someone in a chat I'm in said, paraphrased, "there's a lot of programmers who think that they, the Smart People, know how to use AI for good and everything ELSE is slop but claude code doesn't count" and yeah that is DEF the direction I'm seeing people pivot to dodge resistance against AIgen lately

if you are any kind of creative or artist or writer you *have* to understand sex workers and porn/erotica artists/authors as being members of the same class as us. to the extent society recognizes a difference between "legitimate" art and porn, it's only as a tenuous, convenient, temporary fiction.

This is the new post by the group using AI in their project - who responded to backlash by putting everyone who complained about it onto an “Anti-AI” blocklist. Unpaid opportunity for a project where the creators are using assets you have to pay ElevenLabs to use? Hm.

I think this is actually really bad for the mutual aid space. People already have a stigma for those asking for help in a pretty fucked up world we live in, and allowing people to just turn off mutual aid support via reposts (main way its done at the moment) hurts a looooooot.

I even run into this using paid stock clipart for my thumbnails. Adobe's library is probably the worst about this, but none are free from slop.

Just a warning to my fellow analog game devs - adobe stock is a minefield of GenAI images. An image I was using, that I downloaded almost a year ago was tagged GenAI way after it was uploaded. So keep track of your downloads, check them regularly, and stick to catalogs like Unsplash, if you can.
