Listen! 🧚‍♀️ I'm sick of the mediocre and scathing attacks on this classic southern swamp gothic of nature (and family) eating the rich. Is it padded? Yes, with gorgeous Florida Everglades & every freaking reptile you can think of! Do the frogs eat anyone? That's not the point! Sit down, bitch!

"In science-fiction films, the monster should always be bigger than the leading lady". Roger Corman 70 years ago this month (It Conquered The World) Corman's second genre offering is released onto an unsuspecting audience. Rubber monster madness!

Rewatching classic Who. I've discovered that my love of Doctor Who as a kid wasn't just the fun stories and spooky atmosphere, but moments like this, while a professor is rambling on and on and the Doctor is suffering and unable to mask it. Little Ben felt seen.

The World Documentary Repository: J is for Joris Ivans. Dutch documentarian who blended avant-garde visual poetics with militant left-wing political activism to capture global conflicts, anti-colonial struggles, and human labour across six decades, as illustrated by The Spanish Earth (1937).

Five Dolls for an August Moon (1970) A group of millionaires and their wives on a secluded island vacation to strong arm a professor into selling his formula. When he doesn't it turns into 10 Little Indians. I love this Mario Bava giallo more every time I see it.

LW: Achilles Returns (2026). Less an Odyssey mockbuster, more a micro budget spin off, Achilles now in the modern day fighting Medusa: the star also wrote/directed/hummed the music, it’s filled with stock footage and it’s still only 50 minutes long. Painfully earnest and genuinely hilarious.

The poster for micro budget sorta mockbuster Achilles Returns, starring, directed by, written by, created by, music supervised by, location scouted by, casted by, art direction by, edited by, special effects by, sound design by, audio mastering by, produced by, designed by, dream weaved by, George Touras.

According to the IMDb, SQUIRM opened OTD 50 years ago today, Jeff Lieberman's horror flick about carnivorous worms - with hooks for mouths! - driven to the surface of the earth. Tons of icky fun, and a great evocation of sultry Georgia heat. I have this early Drew Struzan poster on my wall.
