In the early days I lost colleagues my own age and younger in good health and prime of life. I attended god awful zoom funerals before anyone really knew how to host a zoom mega meetings. 1/

I agree with @drsandman11.medsky.social: If you didn't look like this & doing everything you can to prevent people from dying during the pandemic, maybe think twice before judging Dr. Fauci.
In all seriousness, AAUP hasn’t become political. It has reacted to political overreach by one political party into higher education.

Ok, see, I think this is unfair because 'the classicists' here is basically one classicist who has their own take (and that's fine). A lot of classicists are being really rather normal about this! I liked the movie, for instance.

I've been thinking about the aquila in the triumphal car under Augustus. I think it probably is a visual attempt to credit the legions with the victory rather than centering oneself as commander/triumphator. Probably not an original thought but a nice bit of rhetoric.
