Tax Wealth not Wages

The NZ economy is being lashed by high fossil fuel prices, which increase the cost of living and drive inflation. Let's decarbonise the energy system for the climate and reap the side benefits of lower energy prices.

The weirdest thing about elections in NZ isn’t the level of political corruption, it’s how everyone thinks there isn’t any. If you regulated election spending the entire right wing of NZ politics would evaporate overnight.

Regular viewers will know that I had serious doubts about the 'recovery' well before Trump decided to cause global chaos (and trading opportunities for his buddies). Suffice to say, today's unemployment data is GRIM! Let's have a look... Unemployment rate vs the guesses of clueless ghouls. [🧵 1/n]

Released from ICU this afternoon and now home. Photo shows the impact that the back of my S-Works helmet took after I was thrown from my bike 20 yards through the air at 60 km/h and landed in rocks and sand. Without this helmet I’d be dead. E-bike and e-scooter yahoos take note.

Back of S-Works road bike helmet after high impact with ground at 60 km/h. Rear right of helmet mostly missing after the impact. I was knocked unconscious but suffered no significant head injuries. The rest of my body was less lucky. Broken vertebra, clavicle, scapula, 10 ribs and punctured lung. Lucky to be here to post this.

The Public Service Commissioner is in one corner trying to tell the Public Service Association what they can and cannot say politically, and then we have Mr CEO of the country using public services to get to and from party political events like that’s just fine and ok

Not for *government duties* for his role as leader of the National Party for a party *fundraiser* for the *election* Surely this is outside the bounds of what the Air Force should be used for?? Seems like an enormous breach of his access to public assets! www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Roderick Mulgan (Free Speech Union board member) lobbied Simeon Brown; Brown appointed him to the Medical Council. UK FSU founder Toby Young attended a private UCL eugenics conference in 2018. That's the 'free speech' movement's character reference. #nzpol

#nzpol In light of the -10⁰C predicted for tomorrow, can the Aotearoa NZ Govt press pool ask the PM and his many ministers what is being done for the thousands of homeless around the motū who are now forced to sleep rough, in bushejs, under bridges, or in garages, or in their cars. #MontageTime

Let me paraphrase this for you Ms. Willis. Winston, and Seymour for that matter, can do anything they want safe in the knowledge there's sweet FA we'll do about it. They have us completely over a barrel and we're too spineless to put the interests of the country ahead of those of our party.

Nicola Willis and Mark Mitchell suggested this morning that firing Winston Peters would bring down the Government. www.thepost.co.nz/politics/361...

So, tell me Mr Luxon, now that you've retired from politics and are spending more time with your money, how did your government collapse? Slowly, then all at once. But you know, it turns out I was never in charge of my government after all. I was just Peter's, Seymour's and the NZI's useful idiot.

The fast track has created a dependency on political patronage. Individual businesses can only access the fast track if ministers agree. Coincidentally political party donations linked to fast track applications have ballooned.

In the last two elections in between checking my enrolment and election day I was removed from the roll. Only found out when I attempted to vote. All sorted out painlessly at the time but it doesn’t bode well

Look. What I say to you is this. Four out of 100 feel better off under my government. They are the adults in the room. The other 96 Should stop looking to my govt to make the economic weather and start disrupting! What? At the ballot box? No. Not like that... www.stuff.co.nz/money/361012...

A staggering number of Kiwis' money worries have got worse in the last year

Many Kiwis feel like they’re going backwards at the moment.

Look. What I say to you is this. Hey, listen, I'm a big fan of being a disrupter, a dynamic CEO who does business differently; especially when it comes to our international trade relationships. What's that? Winston? Nah, don't want to talk about it. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Luxon speaks to Peters about comments: 'That's a conversation between us'

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says he has had a conversation with Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters, following his tirade towards a Chinese-born MP in Parliament last week.

Look. What I say to you is this. Wellingtonians paying $4,000+ under Local Water Done Well, is much better than Labour's Three Waters plan where central govt would pay. Just don't call it a tax. #nzpol Wellington residents shocked by 'ridiculous' water bills... www.rnz.co.nz/news/regiona...
