This is *such* a revealing line about Kemi's world view and contempt for those who do the day to day work of keeping our society functioning

Stage lighting guy. Likes puns, technical jiggerypokery, sciencey stuff, good friendship and conversations that engage the brain. Cycles a bit. (he/him)
At the bookstore, I waved over a guy with an astronaut tattoo and a pride necklace. "I'm not your demographic," he said. "My book is about a female biker gang in space rescuing a gay prince," I said. "The sequel is about a sex-positive sexbot." "In space?" "In space." "I AM your demographic!"
i cannot stop laughing at this, this is incredible
Okay I went back and recorded the WPBL anthem. I haven't seen a clip of it yet and....it needs to never be forgotten.
Walking home across Walthamstow Marshes this evening. She landed about 6 feet away from me.
OK, so what is this diagram on the back of Victoria's closing remarks script on tonight's #onlyconnect ? It can't be carelessness that it's been broadcast like that.
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
Sadly, there's no more. RIP Jimmy Cricket. Worth watching @herring1967.bsky.social's RHLSTP from a few years back. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHAO...

This reminded me, the number of Cliff Richard records turning up in charity shops is shocking. Was in one the other day and they had a whole section laid out, records, books, mugs, easily more than one person's collection. Musical taste as a death demographic.
(please….. if you have older parents….. encourage them to downsize their book collection WELL before they are forced to, and perhaps in stages to soften the blow)
I mean, just look at these beauties.... 🤩
Jarvis Cocker, New Order, Elbow, Dr Who (v. Eccleston), @daraobriain.bsky.social, Kraftwerk, Mogwai, Brian May, 2 astronauts (Peake & Hadfield), the Poet Laureate, the Lovell family & many more. Heartwarming to see how much the UK loves Jodrell Bank & astronomy🔭🙏 www.theguardian.com/science/2026...
"Kew Gardens has had a weather station since 1871. This July was, based on third party analysis of Met Office data collected at the site, the first calendar month on record where no rainfall was measured at Kew."
London's first month without rain
Plus: There's nowhere to bury the dead • London wants to keep its money • When will it stop being so damn hot • Who is to blame for turning off the air conditioning in the tower block?

I don't think people are ready for this kind of joke yet.
The Golden Age Of Children's TV is currently an un-whopping ninety nine pence on Kindle! I really am quite proud of it and I think you'll enjoy it, especially at this price. If you've already ready it, why not share the link? Hint Hint. www.amazon.co.uk/Golden-Age-C...

I've just seen the cover to the Complete Trumptonshire blu-ray, and now I need you all to see it too, so there can be an outbreak of delighted cooing and "aw" noises all across Bluesky. It's done my heart the power of good, it really has.
An extreme “America is not the world” - I keep getting emails for some other Dolan family. The latest had an invoice with a second email address, so I asked them to update their details. They replied assuming we were in the same town as them:
Worth posting in context as it is bang on topic.
Oh god, I can feel her seething frustration from here.

To my shame I'd never heard of Ceuta before a few days ago. It's surprising it was never mentioned in news articles, debates and discussions, even in passing, when the press has been talking about Gibraltar!
RefUK, RW media, & Eurofash are plainly trying to whip up a panic about this. Any serious report must begin by explaining that Ceuta is in Africa - not mainland Spain - and 48k+ of the 50k crossers were already returned. It is frightening how many still don't know this. Please share on all socials.
Barack Obama is coming to Manchester's Coop Live in a few months. Seats to see him range from ~£130 to £515 per seat (the latter being 'premium', rows 8 and 9). Row 19 is £350. It's not just me that thinks these are absolutely bonkers prices, surely? He's a great man, but that's very expensive!
So I woke up this morning to find out that Ozzy Osbourne’s son made a video falsely accusing me of using AI to write a Rolling Stone article about the Tate brothers.
It occurs to me that I've never heard of anyone (other than the obvious one) called Elvis. Does anyone know an Elvis?
It was always unlawful, under the Highways Act 1980. But I don't suppose Suella would know that, being a lawyer, MP and former Attorney General.
More people died from heat between April 1, 2026 thru July 19, 2026 than in the ten entire preceding years combined

Seeing Tom Jones has just reminded me of this spectacular bit of slop that popped up on my FB a few weeks back. Who the fuck is Susan Boyle's dad, Mr Tickle? #totp
Manchester mayor election results taking ages. Down to Reform candidate vs Labour candidate. Let's hope it doesn't go the Reform way, otherwise we'll be in for a terrible time in so many ways. <crosses fingers>
If turnout is significantly down for the Manchester mayor turnout, why is it taking so long to count and declare a result?
