PSA: There is no such thing as a "Super El Niño". There's weak, moderate, strong, and very strong. We are almost certainly headed into a very strong El Niño by this Fall, but it's just getting started. (tidbit: the phase of ENSO is not determined using daily or weekly values)

ECMWF model over there trying to save our monsoon, but GFS calling it like it probably is: slim odds that get slimmer as the "cooler wetter days" approach in time :(
With how thick the smoke plume is today, it also had an impact on temperatures by reducing sunlight at the surface. Most weather models don't factor in smoke plumes - and those models were as much as 10-15 degrees too warm today where the smoke concentration was most dense.

Reminder: if someone does something, legal or not, it has an immediate impact. The edit-undo option doesn't set things back perfectly to how they were. Ex: A crinkled and ripped page of paper cannot be pressed back into a perfect white sheet with the hands that ruined it.

While the high temp forecasts are different, at least both models and outlooks currently trying to give us back some monsoonal moisture. In a world where I'd have to pick, I'd take wet over temp right now.
