Wow, The Media Terves And Sensible Opinionist Set seem VERY touchy about us orrible oiks repeatedly mentioning that their dead bestie Rod Liddle beat his pregnant girlfriend and wrote repeatedly about wanting to view CSAM and rape children just bc it's true, we should probably all stop saying that

A new find-the-tiny-silver-owl photo for you. It’s also worth zooming in for the silver cast I’ve made of a tiny feather, acorn, oak leaf & larch cone, a miniscule piece of coral, a pyritised ammonite & to see the design on the Victorian brooch I’m going to convert into a pendant…
Watched Devil Wears Prada 2 and my main question is why does it look so WEIRD? Everything is flat and fuzzy and kinda orange. Such a strange choice.

I need to know where @vcorenmitchell.bsky.social got that beautiful green dress she was wearing on tonight’s #OnlyConnect so I can wear it for my daughter’s wedding.
As we get wave and wave of heat this summer, I’m here to remind dog owners the best thing you can do for your dog is get them a wet cooling coat that has a panel that goes under their belly. A fan will not cool your dog, it works by evaporating sweat which they don’t do!
Starting round three of weeding the new garden. First round in starting in March took about six weeks, several hours most days. Second round in May / June was ‘only’ three weeks. Dirt-encrusted and broken-nailed fingers crossed for a week and a half this time.
Saw my postman and my Evri delivery guy in a lay-by, leaning against their vans, having a chat. It felt somehow very wrong.
My first ever beetroot harvest is ready. Plans so far: grated raw into salad; pickled for winter; roasted for dinner; beetroot crisps. Anything else?
Monetised is the key word here. We all knew this was coming as soon as Musk started paying people on the basis of engagement.
So much of this culture war jockeying, writes WIRED contributor John Semley, exists purely online, to sustain an infrastructure of monetized outrage that is increasingly preoccupied with Western chauvinism, racism, and just plain antisocial weirdness.
Keep reminding yourself the vast majority of people pay no attention to the nonsense.
Christopher Nolan’s ‘Odyssey,’ which finally came out on Friday, was dogged since its announcement, facing boycott threats from far-right haters due to its “wokeness.” And guess what? It’s a huge success 💅
If Andy Burnham wants to eradicate rough sleeping, he’s going to need to rebuild every service decimated by austerity. I sincerely hope that’s the plan.
To a former resident of the halls of residence at the foot of Arthur’s Seat, this looks terrifying. As a discerning reader, I suspect it was started by someone setting fire to One Day as an act of exorcism for THAT ending.

Sorry if we’re becoming annoying, with our exhortations to subscribe to our little chapbooks. But hey, we need you. And besides, we’re relatively new here and it’s harder to make friends than it used to be on the old Twitter! Anyway, we’re a tiny Indy press, looking for short story lovers. #BookSky
A reminder that subscriptions are open. Why subs rather than sell the books individually? Because it creates a community. It helps planning & investment. It supports writers (all our writers are paid). It’s 20 quid. 4 books, one per quarter. 4 original stories. We’d love your support. Thank you.
American on the radio baffled it has taken so long for football to embrace the half time show. What irked was her assumption that anything traditional to the US is an uncontested good. Our not having adopted it makes us, in her eyes, stupid. Please god it never happens again. That WOULD be stupid.
Negotiating with the bees while I deadhead my young perennials. I promise, my furry fat-bottomed friends, if I take away half the food now there will be three times as much next time. It’s the magic of nature. Now buzz off.
Andrew Tate, being arrested in Miami, wearing an outfit suspiciously resembling the one my wife Bunty wore to meet the girls for a meal in town last weekend…
If hard work guaranteed a way out of poverty, we wouldn’t have working poor. So what’s actually missing?
BBC burying the lede here until paragraph 3 - JKR bankrolled this and LOST. I repeat - JKR bankrolled this lawfare against the Belfast Film Festival and... LOST. It can be done! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I don’t normal do these negative posts because we shouldn’t yuck in other people’s yums, but I’m still furious about Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

Joint calendar essential since my husband retired and I am no longer solely responsible for all domestic and social organisation. Now he can book the car service / buy gig tickets / remember birthdays and never have to consult me. It’s delightful.
God I cannot emphasise enough that all essentially couples should get a joint calendar. It both avoids the “it’s been a week and we haven’t seen each other despite living together” and organising events doesn’t become like being part of coalition negotiations.
An urgent reminder before the summer holidays start - your writing is important and carving out time and space for your creative practice is neither frivolous or selfish. It is important. YOU are important. 😱
While everyone is talking about verifying their age with old cultural references: I remember this ad campaign and didn’t realise the young folk don’t know the origin of the phrase.
Today I learned that the phrase “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” was invented as an apocryphal old saying for a 2003 tourism marketing campaign
The polar opposite reactions here to the deaths of Sam Neill and Lindsey Graham are such a reminder that we all have a choice whether to live our lives in a way that brings joy or misery to those around us. I think if you’re remembered fondly as Sam Neill is today, you’ve pretty much won at life.

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface
