When people say they’ve read 100 books a year and it’s all smut I get mad. That shit does not count. Wanna know who actually reads hella books per year? Professors. On top of journal articles. On top of student essays. Saying that porn counts is stolen valor

example of why digital preservation as a primarily social issue rather than a technical one. I wish discourse about this focused on that piece, the failures of policy and labor outsourcing and technofeudalism. Preservation is people, it is not a hard drive or a NAS or [insert obvious solution here]

And it's OK if you read audiobooks because reading physical books is too slow or difficult. My brother finds reading physical books a challenge, but tears through entire series of audiobooks and loves it. He's just now discovering he likes science fiction.
