Conversations need to be had in the British and Irish media about journalists excusing some of the worst personal behaviour of fellow journalists because they worked together once and got on well. So many journalists are just a cancer on British society and we can easily do without them.

I am saddened by the tone of commentary in this place about my former BBC colleague. The level of vitriol seems more suited to the other place. I worked with Rod at the Today programme. He took no prisoners, but he was witty and personally capable of genuine warmth. My sympathy to his family.

Thoughts on the dead singer. Yesterday, my middle aged straight hairy biker son went on one on social media about the dead singer and those eulogising him. He did not hold back. What was unusual was that he took to social media to vent knowing it would attract vile bile. I asked him why.

Their desired end state is a situation where if you want to know something, make something, find something... You need their permission to access it, and then their LLMs can scrub any content out of it that they don't want you to access. And what stops them? It's their property right?
