Yes! My mother named me this! Author of Eleanor & Park, Slow Dance and the Simon Snow Trilogy. Writer of She-Hulk and Runaways. My next book is called Cherry Baby, and it comes out in April 🍒

I perceive that the search function has changed on the @nytimes.com site. I used to be able to search specific words and phrases. Now when I search for a phrase, I get one valid hit. And then an assortment of unrelated recent stories. Has anyone else noticed this? Has the process changed?

Meta now lets anyone use your Instagram photos in AI images without your consent. SAG-AFTRA recommends that #SagAftraMembers (and all Instagram users) opt-OUT of Meta’s new AI image generation tool, Muse Image. Take action to protect your likeness.

If you want to avoid AI generations of your Instagram posts without switching your account to private, you’ll have to dig into the app’s settings. Open the Instagram app, tap your profile, and then tap the three lines in the top-right corner of the screen. Then, scroll down to the Sharing and reuse tab. Here is where you should see a section labeled Allow people to use your content on Instagram and with AI features on Meta, with a toggle for Posts and one for Reels.

"Listen. I don't like to preach, but here's some advice. You'll meet a lot of jerks in life. If they hurt you, remember it's because they're stupid. Don't react to their cruelty. There's nothing worse than bitterness and revenge. Keep your dignity and be true to yourself." - Marjane Satrapi

My whole writing career has been me selling ideas that I thought were about some weird little concept I had but the person who bought it believed it was about the plot of the story. But to me the plot is the bribe I offer you in exchange for you listening to me talk about the weird little concept

Also as a reminder: we have a (deeply) discounted rate for students, educators, un/undermployed folks, or anyone else who might want it, no questions asked. Email us at info@fansplaining.com and we'll be happy to share the link!

Enjoying the work we've published since our relaunch? Become a subscriber! 🎉 We've been thrilled by the enthusiasm around this project, but we have yet to reach a baseline of subscriber revenue to pay writers each month, let alone editors. Help us get more smart fandom writing out in the world!

"In any outbreak, the single most important question is: How does it spread?,” Joseph Allen writes. We got it wrong at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with hantavirus, we're getting it wrong again: theatln.tc/XEsI3zXo 📸: Andres Gutierrez / Anadolu / Getty

The infinite growth model is one of the worst things to happen to journalism/media. At some point you reach the ceiling of people who want to read your magazine! You can just make enough money to pay people well and publish things and not grow forever!

I don't want to seem like I had low expectations, but this project turned out SO WELL. The art is amazing throughout, and many of the jokes are ACTUALLY FUNNY. Kudos to editors Chip Zdarsky and Marie Javins. (I'm in here! I did an "Anatomy of ..." bit.)
