Oracle será o boi de piranha. Nos EUA, em 2008, alguns bancos grandes podiam quebrar. O governo resolveu deixar o Lehman Brothers falir, para justificar uma injeção de dinheiro público no sistema financeiro. Vão deixar quebrar a Oracle antes de salvar os hyperscalers. Pode anotar.

Recentemente conheci uma empresa que só contrata gente burra. Deve ser política do RH. O famoso barato que sai caro. É a única explicação que consigo imaginar para uma gráfica que faz tudo errado e não cumpre prazos desde a pré-produção até a entrega do produto para o consumidor final.

Fluent Python saiu 2015 pela O’Reilly. Aquela 1ª edição foi publicada em 9 idiomas em 10 países. Fluent Python Second Editoon saiu em 2022. Também teve traduções. Banquei a tradução PT-BR para publicar no PythonFluente.com de graça. Daí lançamos o Python Fluente 2ª edição impresso em 3 volumes.

se a missão de um ministro da Defesa é exatamente defender um país, ou pelo menos procurar defender, não há grande exemplo a ser extraído de uma declaração como essa. Que ele entregaria o país a uma potência estrangeira sem lutar ficou bem claro, mas permanecer no cargo tem alguma coerência?

Gerador de lero-lero tem que usar SEMPRE com a rédea curta. Se o LLM alega qualquer coisa surpreendente ou significativa que você não sabia, peça evidências. Agora mesmo o Claudio mandou uma dizendo que sets foram rejeitados pelos mantenedores de Go, mas a real é o oposto: #Golang vai ter sets!

If you're anti AI & making claims that some of the models under the AI umbrella are ok because they seem to be serving scientific goals, then you fell for a type of hype. Second, numerical point prediction is not something we can nor should expect. Sanbonmatsu et al. (2025), by involving prediction without any caveats, constate that they see models as fit-to-data models and not as cognitive models; they have slipped into assuming that both are of the same type. We can instead consider other forms of prediction — often not labelled as such in a formal setting — as desiderata. Numerical prediction is flimsy, theoretically inert, and often contra building the very scientific understanding we wish to nurture and support. Qualitative prediction is a different beast altogether. An informative example from the history of science is that the tides were numerically predicted for centuries before we col- lectively decided on a scientific explanation (Deacon, 2018; Hughes, 2006). Namely that the Sun’s and Moon’s gravit- ies cause tides. This latter understanding, as opposed to the precision-based numerical one that only helped us decide when the tides came in and out and by how much, is what scientific understanding is about. Gravity causing tides is a scientific explanation of the phenomenon, and it references no numerical values (Cartwright, 1983).

Uso LLM para codar. Mas nunca, em hipótese alguma, para pedir conselhos sobre minha vida pessoal ou profissional. Para isso, terapia, I Ching e tarô são mais confiáveis. Quero distância do lixo usado para treinar esses LLMs, e dos filtros e remendos introduzidos pelos vigaristas das big techs.
