obviously this is islamophobia, but it's also the liberal framing of american empire as always being reactive. none of our actions ever have consequences and no one ever has valid historical reasons to be hostile towards america

25 years after the tired American cliche of “why do they hate us,” helped instigate two forever wars (Afghanistan + Iraq), this is how @nytimes.com chooses to explain Iran’s political system:

Few things make me more furious than when some dipshit decries political actors for sowing division within a society. THATS WHAT POLITICS ARE. Rewarding some groups and punishing everyone else. That's the whole of it. To refuse division is to amplify the power of the hegemon. Fucking cowards.

Had to gently call in a femme comrade recently on a safety issue and they responded so helpfully and the whole interaction felt like we grew to understand each other better. As opposed to every single time ive had to gently call in a dude and they act like im trying to castrate them or something.

Writing fiction in any genre should be a purely human exercise. If you use AI to generate *any* dialog, story ideas, character shapes, *anything* creative, you're betraying the very concept of artistic expression. This is a bright flashing red line for me. www.wired.com/story/the-bi...

‘Everyone Is Doing It’: The Truth About AI in Hollywood

Puck’s Matthew Belloni says AI has quietly become part of everyday filmmaking. The battle now isn’t whether Hollywood will use the technology—it’s who controls what’ll come next.

The state exists to organize violence to impose the will of the ruling class on their subjects. Thats it. The only thing a state exists to do. You can try to use it for other means, but if youre paying attention, youll quickly figure out that everything always comes back that organized violence.

"The Michigan case was filed on behalf of Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties..." But please, keep gushing about how progressive the papacy is. I'm sure the Catholic Church is thankful for the p.r. while they keep attacking every last one of our rights.

THREAD. After years of litigating against New York prosecutors and judges, we just won a landmark First Amendment case in the federal appeals court. The case could expose the secretive world that protects prosecutors when they break the law. But something deeper is going on.

Anarchism is not a romantic fable but the hardheaded realization, based on five thousand years of experience, that we cannot entrust the management of our lives to kings, priests, politicians, generals, and county commissioners. Edward Abbey

"ICE could not simply deny that the massive hunger strike at Delaney Hall was happening, so agents resorted to violence ... ICE officers cut off the detainees' external communication, repeatedly threatened to sabotage their cases, and brutally assaulted and pepper-sprayed them[.]"

“People are not willing to give up so easily or to have their spirits broken.” Hunger strikes are spreading in ICE jails, @mauriziogro.bsky.social reports. More detainees are risking their lives to protest inhumane conditions & legal rights violations.

they’ve been calling us a terror movement for years. the media rushes to tell people that every mass shooter is trans before the bodies hit the floor. for half a decade now, we’ve been damned whether we do or don’t. respectfully, this moment is no different from what we’ve long been living through.
