Anxiously waiting for new work files to be dropped, so have a baby boar to ease the waiting
Surprise #Smaugust 🐉✨ I had this accordion style sketchbook laying around, I felt big Copics itch and decided to jump in. I don't follow any prompt lists and I definitely won't be making these daily but if I can make 2-3 per week I will be very happy! [ #dragon | #art | #sketchbook ]
wild shot the dark, but do I know anyone else who’s seeing the dear hunter on tuesday………….. I will wave at you if so
I think a lot of people who remain in fandoms for children's media as adults fundamentally misunderstand what we're saying when we criticize something being "for kids" Yes, children's media can engage with serious, mature topics. But it has to treat them like it's your first time hearing about it.
I’m trying to be better about keeping a habit again of painting a little for myself every day, and I really like today’s tree trunk from the watercolor sketchbook. (if you turn your head, those other ones are yesterday’s tiny landscapes, too)

Apple charges people ~20% more than the Patreon list price and they keep the difference for themselves. They also hold the proceeds of iOS app sales for 75 days, making it impossible for creators to accurately predict earnings. They basically inserted themselves in order to rip *more* people off
Any of you using the ios version of Patreon to support me, switch to the browser version instead, cuz the apple fees have actually taken over 3000 usd from me in the course of a year
one of the many (!) WIPs on my desk right now, a gryphon inspired by the nicobar pigeon 🕊️
arlen: 1 shimmery bullshit: 0 can’t take me out THAT easily. am I still a little scared of actually tackling this painting: maybe! but (fingers crossed) it’s going to be a lot of fun and I hope it turns out nicely!
ah yes, giant mostly-circle crescent of shimmery bullshit in my field of vision, you’re exactly what I wanted to experience while trying to lay in this sketch for a painting (I took meds already and I will be fine but it is SO annoying to get these)

"But as a solo dev--" You must learn the power of your own limitations. If your art is crap, either get better at art, figure out a way to make its crappiness look intentional, or ask for help.
"But coding is so much faster with AI!" 1. No it isn't 2. This entire game came together in six months. I was poisoned for half that time. If you wanna talk speed, we'll talk about efficient production timelines, scope management, and actual teamwork. Code isn't the limiting factor.
"But AI is good for concept/placeholder art!" 1. No it isn't 2. Check out the actual concept art for 500FF. Real sicko shit! The game is way better for having gone through this process with intention!
To anyone who, like me, has suffered from "by the time I am done with work I have no energy left to work on things for me" disease, I can highly recommend giving yourself an hour (or even just 30 mins) at the START of your day to just draw for you. It seems so simple but took me forever to do.
Calligraphy/refillable pen ink users! I treated myself to the Tom's Studio Lumos Mini Refillable Pen for my birthday this month and it came with some ink, but is there any ink that may come highly recommended from anyone more familiar with refillable pens? A good black for sure, but other colors too
if you're trying to get into drawing environments but worried about perspective, my hot take is don't worry about it at all. It's a lot more important that things FEEL in perspective than actually being in perspective, and that usually comes from strong composition, scaling and shapes
ok a final note here; the best thing I've done for my own environment design is just being observant. I like studying where building facades jut out relative to each other, I take pictures of material wear and tear, I sketch tree branches. That visual info will come back into your work!
Also!! Hi everyone, I'm OPEN FOR COMMISSION HOURS for the month of August! My universal rate is 40USD per hour for all noncommercial use and I'll paint just about anything-- gimme a holler if you'd like some art in the coming months so I can pay rent and stay comfortably fed and housed! :D
I always see Dolbadarn Castle peeking over the trees and I thought it was about time I drew it
yo can people start requesting the artists they like directly to con staff so we don’t have to do this dance of fighting 3d printed dragon sellers and print on demand ‘fashion’ designers for space
