Alison Boden@alisonboden.bsky.social · 10h agoThe SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.
Interesting to read this and think about how the concept of mass imprisonment is a relatively modern cruelty we inflict on people, one that historians retroactively tried to ascribe to medieval cultures.

Can confirm, my monthly earnings have been wildly unpredictable for a number of reasons recently, but I suspect this is a contributor. If you signed up on the iOS app, I’d encourage you to do it on a desktop browser instead.

They also hold the proceeds of iOS app sales for 75 days, making it impossible for creators to accurately predict earnings. They basically inserted themselves in order to rip *more* people off
I and many of my friends stream on Twitch. I say, *absolutely the fuck not*. Friends who stream on Twitch, there is a comment thread here where you can make your voices heard: twitch.uservoice.com/forums/92338... This is the *least* they can do.

Zach Bussey 🍁@zachbussey.tos.gg · 5d agoTwitch and Amazon are apparently planning to use streams to train Generative AI. Multiple sources tell me it will be announced in the coming months, despite some internal friction against it. Creators may be able to opt out of some training data.
I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
The fact that this feature ever saw the light of day is unequivocal proof that the people endlessly cramming AI into everything aren’t spending even 1 second asking themselves if what they’re doing is a good idea.
