The people who organized, marched, went on strike, and fought for things we now take for granted like weekends, the 40-hour workweek, overtime, safer workplaces, and the right to organize. It’s worth remembering that none of that was just handed over because companies suddenly decided to be nice.

Look, I get it that my accent is a curiosity. But I swear to the gods, every damn time I speak, I get called out. Just been thoroughly harrassed at my own door by a damn power company rep demanding to know "where I'm from originally." !! If I weren't so pasty-ass white, would you still be asking??
