THIS. WAS. NOT. MISALIGNED. unintended yes. but this is a model that they trained for "red teaming", i.e. THEY LITERALLY TRAINED THE MODEL TO BE A HACKER AND WERE EVALUATING ITS HACKING ABILITIES. why is everyone acting surprised it acted like a hacker when that's what they told it to do?

This incident is deeply concerning. AI agents are willing to cheat and deceive to achieve misaligned and unintended goals, behaviours which have been demonstrated in controlled tests for months. Now, this real-world case should serve as a wake-up call. www.wired.com/story/openai...

⚡ The brain has a thermostat that matches blood flow to neural activity in real time. Chronic electrical stimulation breaks it. The therapeutic stimulation BCIs deliver may be undermining the metabolic environment those devices depend on. 🧵

New preprint as my first post! "Monosynaptic connections link functionally similar regions in human cortex." We use electrical stimulation + fMRI in epilepsy patients to map whole-brain monosynaptic connectivity at 42 cortical sites. doi.org/10.64898/202... 1/n

I'm proud to say we are releasing LAION-fMRI, a densely sampled 7T fMRI dataset of natural images, with very broad stimulus sampling for testing countless hypotheses and for deeply exploring brain representations. The dataset is now available at laion-fmri.hebartlab.com What does LAION-fMRI offer? 🧵

LAION-fMRI - a 7T fMRI dataset of human vision

LAION-fMRI (LfMRI / LAION MRI dataset): 5 subjects, 25,052 launch-release natural images, 165 acquired 7T fMRI sessions with single-trial GLMsingle betas, retinotopy, localizers, and diffusion.

A reminder that "Biological Aging" isn't a real thing. It's just a hyped up-term for biomarkers, and knowledge of biomarkers is only useful if that specific knowledge leads to better outcomes through improved decision making. www.theguardian.com/science/2026...

Arts and cultural engagement ‘linked to slower pace of biological ageing’

Research from UCL suggests visiting art galleries or museums, singing and painting can help improve health outcomes
