I was accused of drug seeking by a doctor. I never even asked for drugs, just talked about the pain. He flagged me on a database. When I finally got a doctor to CT my spine I was scheduled for spinal surgery the next morning.
people with chronic pain warned us at the time but the criminalization of women and minority people’s pain after the opioid crisis is a public health disaster. I’ve had friends denied pain management after hysterectomies, dental extractions and broken bones.

Minnesota is a state university, but in the US academic freedom and self-governance is subject to the veto of donors. I have no idea how that can be remedied in the current system. Governments can pressure universities elsewhere, but the influence exerted by private individuals here is extraordinary

The title is a little pointed, but I am very serious here. Academics, medical researchers, and other organisations should not collect data on birth sex. It is rarely relevant, and it almost always leads to privacy violations for transgender people. Please share. I would like people to read this one.
