I for one think its fun and not at all existentially haunting that opening the news rn has the energy of the utena duel song.

I think this is generally correct. I would add: the effort to access created an automatic commonality between consumers in that to have consumed you had to have consumed in the same way. so, not only did we all see the same show, but we all established that on Tuesday nights, we watch shows.
to take an actual crack at this: requiring effort to access entertainment (set schedules, physical media, rare reruns, limited home access), often meant you proved yourself a fan by dint of the consumption itself, and I think that’s been replaced by toxic fandom to prove your bona fides.
ANTHROPIC: Our son loves humanity and for the low price of trillions and trillions of dollars will usher in an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity! OPENAI: Our horrible oafish son is hacking web sites without our permission. ANTHROPIC: (eyes narrowing) Our son is also evil
the king of the hill reboot is 85% great but something about Bobby in it just....doesnt work for me. I dont dislike him, he's not unwatchable, but hes not really anything. hes vaguely soulless. everyone else is perfect tho so its hard.
my most controversial football take is that the optimum way to fan-watch is to have 2-3 teams you genuinely like and root for outside of your Main Team because as long as they're evenly distributed around divisions, you can find a way to make every game matter to you personally.
shoutout to the game I ordered from Hong Kong thats either out for delivery or in Vatican City according to the 2 conflicting tracking apps. Hopefully the pope is into rotk.
none of the text-based posting apps have released fonts or even basic bold/italics formatting options for the same reason private schools make kids wear uniforms. they’re afraid we’ll form posting gangs. and honestly? they should be
this is a really cool and really important piece as chinese games have started to enter western gaming culture in the last few years almost entirely removed from historical industrial context.
👾 Our lead article asks: what happens when you write Chinese game history through the lens of gender? In "Women at Play: Feminist Reinscriptions of Chinese Game History, 1980s to Post-2010s," Mayshu Zhan reconstructs four decades of Chinese gaming history romchip.org/index.php/ro...
objectively really funny that the big US world cup final is like a match designed by god to validate every belief that americans have that football is just boring scoreless draws where nothing happens
trying to convince myself to stop outlining an article and actually draft it by choosing a Fun Font (something sans serif).
watched s3 of quarterback all day with my dad and it feels like cam ward the heir to joe flacco exclusively in terms of vibes.
I do think pinning this on specifically Taco Bell is weird since many confirmed cases aren’t people who ate at Taco Bell at all and we know the actual source—Taylor Farms—distributes lettuce and other produce to many, many other large food businesses
The Taco Bell finger pointing is a psyop to redirect attention from the real culprit, the deregulation and lack of oversight in our food supply
its truly crazy how much canonical 90s anime isn't on streaming in the US.
insane that there are answers to this that arent simpsons
from 1976-2026, best, fave, most interesting, most significant TV representing “average america” ?? however you conceive it comedy or drama or otherwise fictional
not how I wanted my county to enter the national consciousness, but the upside is, when AWS went down last year, I made a joke that it was either here or in Ashburn and it turned out that it was, in fact, Ashburn.
Its officials said it expects a 25% rise in electricity costs next year, and advised workers to close the blinds and turn off their computers to make up for it. www.404media.co/henrico-virg...
my most American attribute is an inability to understand why you dont just kick the ball at the goal as much as humanly possible and hope for the best. (yes I know about offsides as much as I am culturally capable).
cant wait to see what The Simulacra Machine vomits out after consuming the entirety of Letterboxd, a platform that is notoriously 50% shitposts and 50% people being way too serious.
this is the wooooooooooorst
every summer I begin with a long, diverse list of games to play and by mid July im forced to reconcile that I will in fact only be playing 1 game this summer and for 700 hours.
the main thing you want your leftist politician to be is obsessively self-centered. a me-first kinda guy. a guy who believes himself to be the protagonist of reality
what a surprise. again, he reacted like this when the Nazi tattoo was revealed! he wasn't contrite, there was no actual acceptance or suggestion of change, it was pure entitlement and anger. All of this should have been obvious.
watching a movie with some serious woodwinds in the score and its got my son very concerned. Did not know he was afraid of flutes.
as an american i feel it is my duty to root for situations in which america is internationally humiliated so this has been fun
every day I remain trapped inside recovering I order weirder and weirder shirts online
every time something economically or technologically horrible happens in the game industry, I find myself frustrated by the way our reactions sit at a disconnect from other industry and political conditions.
Statement from VGHF director Frank Cifaldi on the discontinuation of physical PlayStation media, and the closure of the PS3 and PSP digital storefronts.
my brother gave me this talk when I was like 12 from his WoW dungeon and it also worked but ive always wondered what could have been....
When I was like 17 I asked a cousin who was quite into it about WoW and his face went very serious & he grabbed me by the shoulders & said "look I know you and I know your personality so never ever get into this thing because you will ruin your life" and somehow it worked and I have never played WoW
my love of matt damon in unexpected-for-matt-damon movies is colliding head on with my hatred of chris nolans entire filmography when it comes to the odyssey. like thats it. I have no takes but that one. I vowed never again after Oppenheimer and here I am.
I went to a gamestop yesterday for the first time in like 3 years and it was a bizarre and terrible experience that made me think tho about what went wrong when we all clearly still need games.
one time the local news interviewed my parents about traffic stuff outside our house and my brother was sitting on the couch in the background watching the hills. in about 3 hours, it'll be the 2nd anniversary of his death. i really wish he was here to talk shit about spencer pratt. love you, T.
cant wait to marathon 400 hours of persona 6 followed by 5 years of slowly realizing all the different ways it was actually pretty mid.
