Badenoch looks more and more like a candidate on The Apprentice. Industrial-strength confidence, fed by chronic lack of self-awareness, with laughable gravitas / skills / knowledge behind it.

What is truly dreadful is that Somerset is a unitary authority so has responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults. It would be scandalous for such a person to receive safeguarding clearance.

Just so you get this right, the UK government would rather release actual police killers than offend its Israeli masters by releasing the imprisoned pro-Palestine activists - average aged 59 and female - it insists must stay in jail www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Police chief considers legal action over PC Harper killers' early release

Two of PC Andrew Harper's killers are set to be included in the government's early release scheme, which begins in October.

Labour Forces Through London Data Centre Amid Worst Drought in Decades flip.it/rJQ4j7 No change there then. I really think Burnham has simply pulled a con to convince people he's different from Starmer. The rhetoric may be different but the decions aren't. Given his background I'm not surprised.

Labour Forces Through London Data Centre Amid Worst Drought in Decades

Andy Burnham’s government has approved a new data centre near London’s Brick Lane despite widespread local opposition, even as the city suffers its worst drought in decades.

It remains unclear who created the viral posts that encouraged the would-be migrants to believe that they could get to Europe from Ceuta. But those who want to weaken the Spanish government, boost the European far right, and create turmoil inside the EU lost little time in promoting the photographs.

The Far-right is distorting Ceuta. We've seen this before www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

www.irishtimes.com/world/africa... This is a total conspiracy theory, but I suspect the international fascist far right may have had a hand in this. No evidence, just IMO. Look at the timing: Nigel Farage’s election. US midterm election. Moroccan officials dialed in. Money buys anything.

Even Home Office's own analysis shows tougher measures force more people into longer, more dangerous routes and exploitation. Tackling smugglers starts with ensuring people don't have to use them. Meanwhile, Labour's own policies mean more people are forced to use them. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Burnham pledges to be 'relentless' in curbing small boat crossings

The prime minister says enforcement is increased but there also need to be more safe routes into the UK.

It is a constant source of anger to me how, without dismissing the harm Tories caused, so many people who condemned the Conservatives anti-asylum/immigration policies are happy to defend Labour's when they are actively worse in practice. Bad policy doesn't cease to be bad based on who implements it.

20 people have died in European wildfires this summer. More than 300,000 have been evacuated from their homes. The Prime Minister has not ruled out further drilling in the North Sea. Please Mr Burnham. Stop dancing to Farage's tune... Tackle the real issues!🙏 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Dear Reform activists, did Farage ask your opinion before deciding to resign and trigger a pointless election, hoping to use your vote as a pseudo-jury in a pretend trial of whether his money-laundering is morally acceptable? By the way, jury decisions need to be unanimous, not 25% in favour.

Farage asks Reform activists to ‘come and help him for once’ in bizarre campaign plea Charming! Nigel Farage has made an appeal to Reform activists in the upcoming by-election - and he thinks they owe him one... Desperation.... www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/nig...
