Japanese researchers linked Long COVID to a dormant herpes virus reactivated by SARS-CoV-2 infection. This process triggers production of the SITH-1 protein, which was identified in about 70% of patients. The SITH-1 protein may contribute directly to brain dysfunction, fatigue, and depression.

Researchers link Long COVID to another virus | NHK WORLD-JAPAN News

Researchers in Japan have released findings showing that COVID-19 after effects, including fatigue, occur when a coronavirus infection activates another virus already inside the body.

Okay. This is a big deal for me Three years ago, writer Henry Bean told me he had a short story he'd finished in 2020, which he felt needed to be published He'd been turned down everywhere I read it I was stunned I took it to @jewishcurrents.bsky.social It's up now, and it will change you:

The Event

“Something has taken place that we cannot speak of or know or even fully perceive, yet the fact of which sits before us.”

#ResistanceRoots Larry Kramer was born on this day in 1935 in Bridgeport, Conn. He was a playwright, author and public health advocate who reshaped national policy during the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. He channeled rage into activism and landmark theater to force action on the crisis. /1

Larry Kramer was never afraid to speak truth to power. While he alienated less aggressive activists, his abrasive, righteous fury revolutionized how the medical establishment listens to patients. He didn’t just advocate for healthcare, he rewrote the rules of medicine.

“I will be one of the Jewish members of Congress most willing to stand up for Palestinian human rights. And I will stand firmly against bigotry aimed at Jews. Those are not two different jobs. They are the same job,” Brad Lander said.

Some things Labour and Dems need to understand: 1) National elections are base elections 2) "swing voters" are not moderates, they are usually cross-pressured, low-info, or inconsistent 3) voters are persudable 4) voters contain conflicting narratives, and tacking right activates their narratives.

The objection from leadership will be that this is too abstract, too institutional, too risky. It misreads both the moment and the country. Americans have grasped the urgency of structural reform before. The window for Reconstruction opens only when the abuses are fresh, and it closes fast. /x

democrats appear to be broadly underestimating the base's anger right now. that's not really a problem for the midterms, purely in terms of electoral strategy (see @gelliottmorris.com's analysis), but i have a feeling it will be disruptive down the road in unforeseen ways

Whoops, the courts were slow and Merrick Garland ran out of time... Whoops, can't do anything about Virginia because the midterms so close anyways... Whoops, Jared Polis is on his last 6 months of his final term... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
