A cycling advocate and transportation planner for the city of Boston was identified as the cyclist who was struck and killed in a crash near Roxbury Crossing this morning.

Dang, New Haven has built some very high quality separated bike infrastructure, with bioswales and bollards that will mess a vehicle up! I’m assuming this all happened under Doug Hausladen’s watch?

In New Haven for the @phnetwork.bsky.social conference and while walking off a Frank Pepe pie I came across this monster cycle track under construction on State St. It looks to be 10’ wide. Full-width street reconstruction is going to result in some kick ass infrastructure.

If this wasn’t my favorite account and an image like this came across my feed I’d just assume this is AI, because this is pure fantasy nearly everywhere. It’s also the sort of transformation that I envisioned @wutrain.bsky.social would shepherd in Boston.

With every passing year in Colorado (coming up on 8 years), I follow Boston issues a little bit less. Today I realized how out of touch I am and how long frustration has been brewing there. Lots of folks and communities were involved in @wutrain.bsky.social’s success but 🧵

No city that truly values public space, and believes that beauty should permeate the public realm would allow this.

Can someone back home explain to me what you think is going on here? What’s the consensus on why there’s been a backtrack from such a promising start? Seeing a dunk contest on one of my favorite people is incredibly depressing, but there’s obviously a lot of frustration.
