Now to check the reaction to Rod Liddle dying
"Death of difficult people" was my mom being a dick to my sister while dying of cancer, she didn't write a fucking Spectator column saying she wanted to look at child pornography and describe it to the readers.

I do now: I wouldn’t have posted if I'd known. I’ve seen death of difficult people up close (and its impact on others): that’s the only reason it was on my mind as an issue.
Some people I know are friends with a Times journo who left one of our shared whatsapp groups when someone posted that Liddle died and a number of people gave a thumbs up.
In an era of libel terrorism, death is the first opportunity to speak ill for many public, influential people.
Not speaking ill of the dead is how Jimmy Saville got something approaching a state funeral.
Literally the only way to stop this happening is to give every single person trying to cross from Calais a free ferry ticket and unconditional asylum.

I recall when an MP was murdered by a Nazi shouting “Britain First!”, we had weeks of molten political/media terror about the abstract concept of divisiveness and social media abuse, because that’s much more conducive to furthering their shared goals, which do not include resisting the far right.
Absolute state of this shit. Yet another example of someone who got their feet under the table and decided class solidarity to their journo pals trumps objecting to eg beating up pregnant women.

if I was the president of FIFA I would introduce between 2 and 5 extra footballs. i would also lift the restrictions on chainsaws, pogo sticks, magic attacks, elves, etc. i would then sell the game of football in its entirety to Cyril Sneer in perpetuity.
I choose not to use the occasion of someone’s death to celebrate cause I don’t want to become that kind of person, but if anyone wants to create some kind of hagiography of Liddle, and we know people will, and we probably know who they are, they should expect people to present them with his writing.
