There is more to transcriptional readthrough than meets the eye, and it could even provide a therapeutic opportunity in cancer. Check out our new perspective, inspired by recent work from Neugebauer and Grzechnik labs! #RNABiology #RNASky #Epigenetics
Studying gene ends is becoming even more fascinating! Curious why? Read our News & Views "Transcriptional readthrough progresses from incidental byproduct to therapeutic opportunity" inspired by the recent publication by Podszywałow-Bartnicka and @karlaneugebauer.bsky.social @natsmb.nature.com
Important ! Check this out. Ab-trapping and thus risk of wrong results …. 😢
My first PhD paper is out in Nucleic Acids Research! We describe "Ab-trapping" - an antibody artifact that distorts assays relying on antibody diffusion (microscopy, CUT&Tag, CUT&RUN). The revisions made the story much stronger. Check it out! doi.org/10.1093/nar/...
Thrilling news to share ... details to come over time, but suffice to say I will have a number of open positions to advertise in the months to come! Skål!!
The results of the Advanced Grants 2025 are here! Out of 3,329 applicants, 319 leading researchers have been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant. Congratulations to all! 🎉 Curious to know more ? 👉 buff.ly/uiU9x5K #ERCAdG #FrontierResearch
I really enjoyed the meeting. Great science and interesting discussions. Thanks for the invite !
What an incredible week it was in Malahide, Ireland, at the FASEB Biological Methylation meeting. It was wonderful organizing this meeting with Capucine Van Rechem, Scott Rothbart, and Tiziana Bonaldi. We had outstanding science and so much thoughtful discussion. Wonderful seeing former trainees!
Excited to announce the International Workshop "Transcriptional memory in health & disease" in Baeza (Spain) this Oct 20-22! Discover how chromatin & networks encode cellular memory with top speakers. unia.es/estudios-y-a... pic.x.com/fjhBUrtRgb
Did you know that Pierre Chambon's laboratory was the first to use the term "nucleosome" in 1975 ? www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...
Sad to hear. Pierre was for 3 years my office neighbour. Lots of memories of interesting discussions (especially on weekends). Pierre was a giant of science. With incredible contributions to multiple fields. 🧬🇫🇷

Want to know how histone marks regulate your favorite gene? Go single molecule with ChromSMF: integrated measure of chromatin accessibility and histone marks + DNA methylation, TF footprints and genotype for free! Very proud of @mpalamin.bsky.social ! @embl.org
ChromSMF preprint is out!🚀 tinyurl.com/ChromSMF We often piece together chromatin regulation layer by layer from separate assays. But this can be limiting! In @arnaudkr.bsky.social's lab, we developed a method to directly study multiple layers on the same DNA molecule! 🧬 What does this unlock? ⬇️
“I think it’s a real mistake to forget where the pipeline for all this begins.” John Diffley reflects on the importance of basic research, his mission to decode DNA replication and recreate it in the lab, and the scientific optimism of the 1960s that helped shape it. www.crick.ac.uk/news/2026-03...

Transposable elements are increasingly studied in single-cell data, but how reliable are current locus-level quantification methods in short-read scRNA-seq data? If you work with single-cell RNA-seq or TEs, we hope this is a useful resource — feedback very welcome!
Happy to share our new preprint! 📊 We benchmarked methods for locus-level transposable element quantification in short-read scRNA-seq, using both real datasets and simulations with read-level ground truth. Huge thanks to @catavallejos.bsky.social and @antonio-scialdone.bsky.social! #TEsky

H4K16 acylations destabilize chromatin architecture and facilitate transcriptional response during metabolic perturbations

Our new preprint is out: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... We show that GRN benchmarks commonly used can overestimate performance due to negative-sampling choices, sometimes allowing simple degree-based baselines to rival more complex GNNs. A reminder of why bias-aware evaluation matters!
Hidden sampling biases inflate performance in gene regulatory network inference
Accurate reconstruction of gene regulatory networks (GRNs) from single-cell transcriptomic data remains a major methodological challenge. Recent machine learning approaches, particularly graph neural ...
