It's rowan.fyi #DevRel with #Chrome at #Google We should improve the web somewhat.

What are some things you could have a pwa or even just a shortcut to a good site for but you choose to install and use a native app instead, and why? For me, i have a lot of apps i was begrudgingly forced into downloading for some benefit they wouldn't provide on the web.

QQ about Dark Mode Toggles on websites How many options do you show to users? - Three values: System, Light, or Dark - Two values: Light, Dark (with one of them mapping to “System” behind the scenes). Why the one or the other? (I have an opinion about it, but I’m looking for external input)

I've never learned about a podcast I *wanted* to listen to from any algorithm, only from personal recommendations. Honestly find this weird, because it feels like it should be an easy one. Is it unsolved, are my tastes too niche, or am I just using an awful #podcast app?

Irritating part of the AI ecosystem* is this reflex to create coded vocabulary that builds an unnecessary barrier to entry. MCP? Oh, you mean an API. Skills? Oh, you mean docs. Evals? Oh, you mean tests. * to be fair, this is actually any group of humans who want to differentiate Their Shiny Thing™

Alarmed at this trend of people finally realizing MCP is a pointless abstraction, then skipping right over publishing a regular boring API, and instead launching new CLIs for agents to use for some reason. It’s baffling.

Went to post some fractals and turns out I've somehow broken fractious-deep.web.app on mobile, I think? If you're on Android, does it work for you? On iOS... well, there's all kinds of weirdness going on there. Anyway, I get a bonus day off debugging and tinkering! I see this as a win.

Ever been annoyed by a "confirm your email" message with a flaky magic link or OTP with clunky copy+paste, if the email even arrives‽ Optimistically, 20-30% of those emails* are never seen. We can fix that! If you have *any* email collection on your site, I'd love to see you try it & give feedback.

Watched The Invite and was hilarious. Excellent fast-paced overlapping dialogue and every character was so well cast. I'd pick favourite moments, but you should go in knowing nothing. Helped by the contrast of watching The Roses last night which was just so tedious and flat with weird tone changes.

Seeing all of these together gave me an "aha!*" moment about where the #bluesky #atproto #atmosphere etc. ecosystem can go. Same excitement I had about #OpenID 20 (😱) years back for ownership and decentralisation, but feels more accessible. I should build something this weekend...

Bluesky isn’t just one app. It’s part of a much larger ecosystem, and your account is the key. Here are 7 useful apps you can log into with your @bsky.app account that you should know about.

I spent some time this morning playing with their endpoints ... I genuinely believe this is the first time that a google account and facebook account interoperate in an unified account chooser that websites can use to login to their websites.

Facebook just recently exposed themselves as a FedCM IdP!! developers.facebook.com/documentatio... I think this is pretty awesome, including to the atproto ecosystem, because it one more step towards making IdPs interoperate with one another!

#Labyrinth came out exactly 40 years ago today! I saw it in the cinema with countless repeat viewings since then and it's permanently shaped my vocabulary. Not least, "come inside, have a cuppa tea!"

Just a worm.
