Toronto used to have a pretty decent marine museum, not a great one, but it could have become great. Instead it was forcibly relocated from the CNE to a much smaller location at Harbourfront and eventually killed off by Mel Lastman and his cronies. Now all of its artifacts are stored indefinitely.

Yeah yeah no tailpipe emissions is great & all but from the pedestrian perspective the concept of EVs is basically “what if we took the things most likely to kill you and made them HEAVIER and SILENT”

it's 22 C (feels like 26 nudge nudge wink wink) cloudy with showers, prob of precip 100%, wind 18km from the east perfect fuck this i'm going out for a walk weather

today, August 1, is halfway between the summer solstice and autumnal equinox (Northern hemisphere) there are four of these cross-quarter days each year, and August 1, known as Lammas (sometimes Lughnasadh), marks the start of autumn, with Samhain (Halloween) the end happy fall!!

chart showing the sine wave of hours of daylight across the year, with 2 solstices, 2 equinoxes, and 4 cross-quarter days marked on the curve... you're familiar with the summer solstice, June 21, being referred to as "midsummer day", and that's because summer runs from Beltane (May Day) to Lammas (August 1)
