Wizards making the Hatsune Miku Commander deck a 24-hour ordering window is a welcome change to the Secret Lair ordering system. If you don’t get in the pre-allotment, you have to wait a year, but that just shows you how backed up printing is for TCGs right now. magic.wizards.com/en/news/anno...

Diablo IV’s buff/debuff iconography and design is among the worst experiences I think I have ever encountered in a video game. It’s inexplicable how hard it is to know what any of it means, *especially* when you play on pad.

The remake of Battlestar Galactica may have had one of the strongest starts of any TV show ever, only to completely run out of steam around mid-S3 due to the writers clearly not having sketched out where things were going to go ahead of time. “33” is optimal television.

I have been working this evening at uninstalling a wire shelf the builder put in my extra bedroom (my office) closet when this house was built around 20 years ago. These mounting bits are SATANIC. There is no logical way to remove them without them taking chunks out of your drywall.

The ClosetMaid pre-loaded anchor “screw.” (They are actually more like nails, but they have screw heads. I’m not joking.)

It is a screw pushed into a drywall anchor that was invented by the devil.

This is largely a reflection of what social media is like in general. Trolls and bad-faith operators simply *cannot* gain traction unless they are actively assisted by platform holders, either by switching to algorithm-based feeds by default (or alone), or softening self and group moderation tools.

Bluesky oldheads will remember that brief period of time when the conservative trolls tried to storm the place and were flummoxed by the idea they would have to organically grow an audience and that someone who didn't want to talk to them could nuke every interaction they ever had from orbit

We were watching that silly new Tom Hiddleston reenactment of the disaster of Pompeii and he was like ‘we have amazing new tech that allows us to track people through this disaster’ and I was oh no he’s going to say it’s an AI brain or something and then he said…. ‘Its a spreadsheet’ and I CHEERED

It’s Monday of week three, and if you want to know how things are going for me, I just accidentally sent every email in my inbox to the trash in Thunderbird because I can’t type and hit the wrong shortcut.

You dont want players to be baffled and confused by your patch notes. If they can't see your intentions and you haven't bothered to explain them, trust can break down.

[Says to self: “Self: you once thought it’d be a cool idea to go into business for yourself as a friendly local game store, right?”] [looks at prices of commercial real estate] [goes back to working on résumé instead] How does anyone actually start a business in this era?

Went to an arcade in Halifax that had a framed portrait of Shigeru Miyamoto looking like he's about to be at the center of a murder mystery in the pacific northwest

A framed portrait of Shigeru Miyamoto, smiling at the camera.

@jchensor.bsky.social I don’t even use Twitter anymore for notifications, so I missed that you honored me with your 2025 awards (I’m amused by this). Thanks, James. I need to watch the show where you did this. I’m humbled. What a wild thing that means so much to me.

Contemporary thing I can’t stand: How many people think if you say something, and then circumstances change and you have to alter your plans to a different trajectory than what you previously said, you “lied.” Things change all the time.

One of the most important issues of our time is that the future of humanity is presently being authored by people who have nothing but total contempt for humanity and seek the erasure of everything that gives being a human meaning. It’s not just annoying. It doesn’t just suck. It’s existential.

Sam Altman: cool use case of chatgpt work i heard last night:

connect your family calendars and explain your kids' interests.

every morning for the drive to school, have it make a podcast that talks about one kid's soccer game that afternoon, one kid's upcoming birthday, some news, etc.
