throughout Biden's entire term liberals kept posting about how Trump could exceed norms but Biden couldn't because the executive branch was full of Trump stormtroopers but for some reason "do something about that" was never on the table either

Adapting to public pushback, the Trump administration is pivoting to expand immigration detention bedspace nationwide.
The only way to square the mainstream media's decades of handwringing and complaining about how dysfunctional NYC is and this WSJ story about how business elites have historically "called the shots" on how NYC is run is to conclude that business dingbats ruined NYC and this is how you fix it.
New York City’s business elites are long accustomed to direct access to City Hall, where even Democratic mayors felt the need to court the city’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders. That access is getting shredded by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
the centrist argument against soft socialists is literally just "you'll make the money mad! then the rich will suspend the pretense of democracy and send in their nazi thugs to impose martial law!" but the money is already doing that anyway, it's obvious to anyone who isn't a massive racist
The decisive failure of GOP referenda in Kansas Amendment 1 and Missouri Amendment 4 yesterday is yet another reminder of something I've been saying for a while: Voters, even Republican voters, now regularly despise and repudiate GOP attempts to use them to destroy democracy.
actually by winning the progressives kind of lost if you think about it ☝️
Again, one reason not to doom is that the regime personnel don't think what they've built is going to be around for the long haul, or they wouldn't be this obviously scared of being disbarred
It's funny that Jeanine Pirro brought a box of evidence to WH to persuade Trump. He wants her to consciously *throw out* exculpatory facts and *knowingly* prosecute innocent people. So facts can't persuade him by definition. Me and @barbmcquade.bsky.social on this: newrepublic.com/article/2139...
But they don’t WANT to persecute wrongdoers and impose burdens on the rich! They WANT to be loud and racist, expensively!
…or you could try to outspend the progressive by tens of millions of dollars again and get racist as shit one more time just to see if it works this time
if establishment candidates want to start winning primaries again all you have to do is say that rich people have too much money and that youll prosecute trump admin staffers and republicans that have broken the law
"Here's why your victory is actually more of a defeat and what you can do to improve your cause's chances next time" - guy who hates you and your cause.
thinking back fondly to that time in 2012, 16 years into florida's charter school experiment, after almost 500 charter schools had already failed, when the republican legislature simply made it illegal to examine what happened to someone's last charter when they applied for a new one
4 Hillsborough charter schools close amid financial, enrollment challenges
Are these people's brains so rotted that they genuinely do not remember four years ago?
I have one answer.
the real swing voters in america are the ones who either vote or don't vote. far more of them than voters who cast ballots for both Rs and Ds
Big shout out to all the people who were mad at me for not wanting them to vote labour cause they were “certain labour will be better on trans rights than the tories“, they couldn’t have done it (segregation) without you
r.i.p. EA, i guess i wonder if the first directive from the new owners will be to make video games more racist or more misogynistic
The line is, "Of course people deserve a second chance, but their repentance has to be real, consistent and thorough-going, and it has to be reflected in a real change in their conduct, not just excuses."
Hello I'm an idiot
copy-pasting a post to try to fix a missing word and fucking it up more each time. lmao.
this was happening even before the nazis bought twitter, but bootlicker-Dem influencer accounts basically operate just like the conservative ones: groundless babbling passed off as expertise, constant rage, habitual sockpuppetry to astroturf up the idea of a community agreeing with them
When you get so mad you screencap your own posts and tell yourself that it’s a banger and you’re not being made fun of.
Given the current fascist regime I really dont think we need or want bipartisanship Like hello
Dawg they are still chasing the mythical republican voter. Complete dedication to never learning anything lmao
High-stakes Michigan Democratic Senate primary too close to call ft.trib.al/p42dE7f
interpreting this as proof that bari weiss puts on a white lab coat to call the doctor and demands they debate her test results

EHRC Code of Practice comes into effect today so remember to be an absolute pain in the arse to any service provider who is trying to actively enforce it.
They also clearly state that offering trans women inferior third spaces to get changed may be discriminatory and that fundamentally the important thing is maintaining sensitivity and dignity of everyone affected. Which would be great if EHRC didn't decide trans women's dignity doesn't matter.
web.archive.org/web/20260108... Here's an archive link of the original business guidance in case the original goes missing. In pretty clear terms the original guidance used to say stuff like "obviously, so long as the changing rooms allow privacy, trans women should be permitted to use the womens"
(There is nuance here, there is still some sort of protection against discrimination, but the logic is so torturous as to mean that trans people's rights are significantly more precarious, difficult to protect and difficult to balance than they previously were)
