Rory Stolzenberg@rorystolzenberg.bsky.social · 7d agoThe Northeast megalopolis as a whole contains 53 million residents, about half of it is in PJM territory (and PJM exports/imports to NYISO). There's plenty of room for renewables in Southside and southwest Virginia — but it needs transmission to get to those population centers!
i think people look at homelessness as a relatively new phenomenon and reason backwards to think that in the Before Times, poor people must've all been able to afford houses/their own apartments etc. Most of the housing types the poor used were actually just outlawed (boarding houses, SROs etc)
Max Dubler 🏳️🌈@maxdubler.com · 2w agoThe two hardest and most unforgiving facts in housing policy are that it actually costs a lot of money to build new homes and that the rents that poor people can afford are not enough to pay off the cost of construction.

We are all in this together and need to do everything we can to protect children better in the future. An independent investigation is the next step. We need clarity so we can work to fix what is broken.
The smoke polluting the air across much of the US reminds us that homeless folks are among those most impacted by climate change. You can't have environmental justice w.o solving homelessness. Just like you can't have housing justice or address the housing crisis w.o solving homelessness.

Elizabeth Warren@warren.senate.gov · 4w agoBREAKING: the clock struck midnight and our bipartisan housing bill is now law. Trump refused to sign it, but he couldn't stop it. This law is GROUNDBREAKING. It will build more housing, bring down costs, and for the first time, stop private equity from buying up homes.
Basically every "put solar panels in this weird place" idea is stupid and bad. I appreciate this being tested to show that the panels can survive for at least a year, but I think there will turn out to be much bigger problems why this is bad. Utility-scale should go in big fields. It's not hard.
Ross Murray@inlayterms.bsky.social · 4w agoSwitzerland put solar panels in the unused space between train tracks. They are removeable, so you can still work on the tracks. And it's working!
I am not sure where we will land on a proposed sidewalk snow ordinance, but this is my feeling as well. These are public infrastructure and should be municipally maintained. I also feel this way about stormwater - municipalities should maintain stormwater ponds, eliminating the need for many HOAs.

Went down to the mall, saw the history, talked to friends, and drenched in sweat in only about 45 minutes 😵💫. It’s such a bummer so many things are getting cancelled after all the planning, but I’m glad they are. This heat is no joke.
