I’m at the ísbúð. I’m at the soup shop. I’m at the hot dog stand. I’m at the combination ísbúð, soup shop, and hot dog stand!

Mysterious bright spot appears in photograph taken in Barkárdalur
During an evening walk in Barkárdalur valley in Hörgársveit this past weekend, Guðbrandur Ægir Ásbjörnsson snapped a photograph on a beautiful summer evening. Upon taking a closer look later, he notic...

Whenever I hear The Thompson Twins on the old music machine, I immediately think of Tintin and his bumbling detectives. “The Adventures of Tintin” were so formative for young Samer.
Love being able to go to the neighborhood bakery and get half a loaf sliced exactly as thick as I like and then discovering they have cheese pretzels! And then running into this handsome fella.
Part of a SpaceX rocket weighing 8,800 pounds is about to crash into the moon at 5,400 mph, releasing an amount of energy equivalent to about 3 tons of TNT. WOW! And, the event might be visible from the East Coast by telescope early Wednesday. More details: www.capitalweather.com/part-of-a-sp...
I love that every day I walk past the cemetery and I can stop for a moment to smell the roses growing in giant bushes just outside.
So yeah, if anyone is looking for an 8-shelf console table in cherry red finish with matching side tables from ikea (HEMNES line) for $275 around Arlington or DC, hit me up. I'll discount the $25+ I was going to spend on marketplace ads for it.
I absolutely hate Facebook / Meta especially trying to sell anything on its marketplace. It stupidly blocked my listing for a console table as attempting to sell a "recalled" product because I stated the cherry red finish was no longer manufactured by ikea. It has an even stupider review process.
OH: two American women having just seen a woman with a leg sleeve tattoo: “I would recommend tights not tattoos…” 🙄
I missed Stockholm Pride by one day this year, so I've been looking at photos in social media. This message really resonated: "If people are born into this shitty world anyway, can't at least everyone be allowed to love whomever the hell they want while they're here?" 🌈💙💛 📷 Joakim Hall

Once you get out of the bar-core, Reykjavík is just lovely at 4a with the sun just rising.
I broke 3 million steps for the year sometime this past week. That’s an average of 14399 steps per day. It’s a lot of steps!
I’ve flown in or out of Dulles Airport hundreds of times—no joke, folks—which more than qualifies me to be an IAD Opinion Haver. So here is my take on the $22.5 billion transformation plan unveiled Wednesday, in particular the two parts of it that need to go in the bit bucket immediately.
Dulles Airport does need a reboot, but the two dumbest parts of its $22.5 billion redesign need to get the boot first
For decades, it was screamingly obvious that Washington Dulles International Airport desperately needed three upgrades: extending Metro to there, replacing its horribly cramped C/D concourse, and r…

Are you even flying Scandinavian Airlines System if your airplane is not named "Thor Viking"? ✈️
It seems that a lot of sulfur emission into the atmosphere have been masking the true effect of global warming for decades now. As those have been made smaller, the real effect of warming of Earth start to show in full force. climate.mit.edu/ask-mit/how-...

Last night at dinner our waitress (after finding out how old my dining companions were) declared that I “must be in your 40s, maybe 39?” I may never ever come down from that high!
Welp! I locked myself out of the apartment 🤦♂️ Folks I’m renting from are reaching out to relatives to see if they have a spare key, but I think I have both their spares. Bah! Do I know any lock picks in Reykjavík? 🤪
Today in literally wild Iceland news: hundreds if not thousands of mink were released into the wild by a (probable) eco-activist. Residents of the capital area's northernmost suburb were urged to bring their pets and kids inside and to stay vigilant as hunters and trappers descended into the area.
