"don't make enough money" is a fig leaf All those degree programs--social work, art, etc.--have disproportionately female student bodies. This is designed to make it harder for women to attend college--college education being a key factor in women's autonomy from men & left-leaning voting pattern.

President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v

I read Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. I think it's a masterclass in successfully writing a horrifically unlikable main character without making the reader want to put the book down. It reads like horror to me. Everything about religious extremism just absolutely freaks me out.

am i allowed to talk about how weird it is that the main way liberals philantropize trans people is by donating money to liberal nonprofits for call centers that beg us not to kill ourselves, instead of directly funding our material needs which, when deprived, lead to suicidality? is that allowed?

Sorry i meant to say we need more celebrities to donate $100 million to suicide hotlines so we can call someone who will beg us not to kill ourselves when the state takes away our medication and housing, and then send the cops to our home if we say the wrong series of words. My bad.

If the current Republican orthodoxy is that public health officials are responsible for every incident of disease or death that occurs on their watch, I'm looking forward to the months of hearings about RFK Jr

Has anyone been able to come up with some kind of "individual climate loss/adaptation" calculator. I imagine something like the (cursed!) carbon footprint calculator but instead of calculating carbon usage, it calculates your personal climate change-related costs?

UT border surveillance scholar was a shoo-in for tenure. UT denied him.

American Studies scholar Iván Chaar López fears UT’s unexplained tenure denial violated his academic freedom amid scrutiny of controversial fields.
