Households in Granton left without water for washing or drinking for five days

Hundreds of people living in blocks of flats at Granton Waterfront were advised late on Friday afternoon not to drink the water from their taps or use the water for washing. On Tuesday that advice was lifted by the factors mid-morning. James Gibb, the factoring company, sent an email to everyone living in the development just before they closed their office for the weekend, and we are told that the email said there was little they could do over the weekend. In an email to residents on Monday, the factors confirmed that the result of a further water test would not be known until at least Tuesday morning.

I have just written to the National Police Chiefs Council to explain the importance of this wonderful event and to ask for an exemption to their policy on police escorts so that the Taxi Outing can still go ahead this year.

Wow! 🤩 It’s not often you accidentally bump into a Commonwealth medallist! What a delight to chat about the joys of cycling and our favourite local paths with Scottish legend Brian Temple, who won a silver medal on the Meadowbank track back in 1970!

Devastated. Kirsty was a wonderful human being, a bright star and an inspiration as a successful woman in politics. She was unfailingly kind and supportive and I’ll forever cherish the meandering chats about politics, the importance of science and life in general on her visits to Edinburgh.

Councillor Sanne Dijkstra-Downie from Liberal Democrats highlights they want science led and supported by coastal communities. Ten years on, we still feel the loss of Charles Kennedy. Charles was principled, kind and possessed an unmatched talent for connecting with people - he was a great friend and an outstanding leader. I know he would have been so proud to see his old seat back in Lib Dem hands.
