O hey Reminder that in (homophobic) '94 as Dookie was blowing up, Green Day picked queercore Pansy Division to open for them + a lot of venues pressured them to drop them as openers -- Green Day told the venues they wouldn't play if PD didn't - and the venues (mostly? all?) backed down. huh.

Friends! It's the feast day of St. Hildegard of Bingen, an abbess, polymath, mystic, & eel truth-teller. Medieval thinkers agreed that eels reproduce asexually. But Hildegard suggested that eels mate at sea, where we can't watch. No one listened to her. But she was right! 1/2 🗃️🧪

She's likely thinking about sex again. And maybe not just eel sex. Hildegard provided us with the first written description of the female orgasm, so it's quite possible that she's got that on her mind. 📽️🩸A fantastic spin on the Gothic that both perfectly encapsulates the genre while also subverting it in a wonderful, needed way, Mārama is a beautiful, haunting story. It's also got one of the most arresting & cathartic portrayals of fury I've ever seen. Everyone should see this; I adored this film.
