I am just constantly astounded by the ways in which I manage to disappoint my parents by (checks notes) doing exactly what they raised me to do, but applying to this approach everyone and not just the "everyone (white people)" they apparently meant.

I am making it a habit to always look for the labor story behind these nasty scandals. The consumers are almost never the only ones being harmed.

how "free" is a country where groceries are like $1,000 a month but the federal minimum wage is less than $8 an hour and having a baby or getting a college degree will put you in debt for the foreseeable future possibly life? nobody deciding that minimum wage has to be subject to it ever again

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. Same with discussions about AI use in k-12 classrooms. Yes yes I’m absolutely willing to agree that AI can do some incredible things for your workflow, adult professional. You are grown and can probably manage the cognitive task of checking to see if the labor AI replaced was helpful. Kids can’t.

I worry that most cynical among us, hopped up on 30 years of law and order rhetoric, will say "this is the system working: he didn't do anything wrong and now he's free." As if the terror and wide-scale publicity of an arrest and federal prosecution is not a horrible punishment in and of itself.
