really does feel like if we can cyberbully the House into passing changes on the shit they openly hate and get it kicked back upstairs again there’s a chance it might not survive the Senate a second time if you live in a GOP state it’s time to ruin a House rep’s life

The package now goes to the House who is expected to vote on it this week. Any changes to the bill in the House will force the Senate to take up the bill again. The current bill as written raises the debt limit by $5 trillion.

The term that makes sense to me is "evangelical capitalists." They believe if you can afford something you deserve it no matter how you got the money and if you can't buy it you don't deserve it, even food & medicine, no matter what external forces prevent you from having the money.

"It is no exaggeration to say this will kill people—mainly people who are elderly, disabled and/or poor. Society’s most vulnerable sit in the crosshairs of our nation’s wealthiest people who have absolutely everything, but somehow always want more."

I want them to be like Mitch McConnell in Obama's 2nd term. They all witnessed it. It's a great playbook for being a horribly annoying pain in the ass roadblock. It's not rocket science. I'm not asking them to break the law. I'm asking them to be as good as him at using the rulebook to obstruct.

Post nicht verfügbar.

He's in his final term, constitutionally. Act like it. Treat him like the lame duck he is instead of letting him think he's going to finagle his way into a third term with SCOTUS's help, assuming he doesn't choke on Big Mac first

Pew Research estimates that 79% of hetero married women change their surname on marriage. Approx 69 mil American women no longer have a birth certificate that matches their legal name -- and that would, under this bill, disqualify them from voting. www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/...

About eight-in-ten women in opposite-sex marriages say they took their husband’s last name

Younger women, women with a postgraduate degree and Democratic women are more likely to keep their last name after marriage.

Hey, America! Tired of voting? The GOP's SAVE Act is for you. In an eye-opening new CAP report, @gbedekovics.bsky.social & @sydkneeb.bsky.social show how the bill would disenfranchise millions of Americans. Hit hardest would be 69 million (largely Republican!) women who took their spouses' names.

Please, PLEASE call your senators and urge them to oppose RFK Jr.'s nomination. You may think public health doesn't impact you (which would be impressive five years into a global pandemic), but it does, and people will die if he's confirmed.
