a long bio is a red flag

In addition to the broader literacy crisis, we're also in a power literacy crisis. Many folks deeply misunderstand how political power works, who has it, and how to build it. And all of that is happening while more folks are using the language of organizing without grasping its most basic tenets.

The US knows Ukrainian air defense relies on US early detection of Russian launches. Without telling Ukraine, the Trump White House (and Elon Musk's SpaceX) withheld that info and hindered countermeasures. The US just facilitated a Russian attack on Ukraine, making it more effective and deadlier.

The Atlantic is part of the elite media trend of redirecting the anti-AI backlash toward Black, Caribbean, and African targets. I will also note here that much of the human intelligence that is training the AI models is Black laborers working in digital sweatshops in Africa and Latin America.

It is really chilling to see how quickly Black, Caribbean, and African writers and academics have become the global face of AI use and accusations of plagiarism. For such a serious charge, @vauhinivara.bsky.social's article rests on...a Pangram scan. www.theatlantic.com/books/2026/1...

The worst Ebola outbreak in the world is ongoing in the DRC and you’re not being informed about it in part because the reason it is spiralling is US politics. At least one person who was suffering from the disease crossed into Uganda by road and then flew from Kampala to Nairobi where he died.

Just so you understand the scale of betrayal: first, our "partners" didn't warn Ukraine about the incoming ballistic missiles, so the air raid alert wasn't activated before impact, robbing people of their chance to survive. Then, Starlink was restricted to stop working at speeds above 100 mph.

for ICE to be abolished, it would take a broad willingness among white democratic voters to make that a non-negotiable through at least 2-4 more cycles primary elections, instead of opting for a white reconciliation based on anti-immigrant and anti-black politics. more folks should read derrick bell

The administration's goal, openly stated, is to consolidate police power in the country and create a huge, well-funded, extremely aggrieved, pro-MAGA, anti-immigrant, anti-protestor police force the likes of which we have never seen in this country.

Some days when I feel resentful about having spent years explaining that criminalization is the fuel of fascism which is why we have to reject criminalization, I remember that perhaps the time I say it might be the first time someone has considered the idea. So I keep saying it and keep organizing.

whenever trump's DOJ has to go in front of a judge to get yelled at, every lawyer on here is like "omg i've NEVER seen a judge this mad, if a judge yelled at me like this i'd immediately commit seppeku," and then at the end of the hearing the judge is like "ok no sanctions just don't do it again"

The 287(g) program teaming local cops with ICE has created an American secret police Check out what happens in Carroll Twp., Pa. when Sgt. Terry Williams spots a resident filming an immigration arrest It's legal to film traffic stops. This is unconstitutional (full column in 2nd post)

This is quite literally what happened to one of my grandparents in 1933. You know, in case we still have folks in the “it’s not fascism if it doesn’t meet these very specific, arbitrary characteristics based on my own refusal to accept responsibility to oppose it” crowd.

You can’t get more Gestapo than this…. “a criminal probe into her immigration paperwork, which her late father filled out after the family emigrated to the U.S. from Somalia when she was a child”

There will be a lot of equivocating about all the times search warrants have been executed on members of Congress for corruption investigations and the like, and it can't be stressed enough in how many ways HSI raiding Ilhan Omar is extremely not like that.
