Cat dad north of Hadrian’s Wall. Hillwalker. Probably “woke”. Sometime korfballer. Music, food and travel. And history and architecture. #NUFC North-eastern England. Late stage dementia carer. Like Reform? Passionate about flags? You’re going to hate me.

Interesting that all the analysis of Bruno Guimarães move to Arsenal is all about what he brings to Arsenal, not what Newcastle lose. But we’re not a “big six” club so who’s really interested. Everyone else is collateral so that the big six can aggrandise without limits. Modern football is rubbish.

When we play the MCC from 14-16 August, the matches will be played at Tungubakkavöllur, Mosfellsbær. If the MCC beat us, we will ask their squad to pronounce the venue, and if they do not do a satisfactory job, we will declare 'a moral victory'. We will judge them fairly.

I'd have more respect for the club if they just had the balls to come out after this shit show of a summer and just admit that that they jumped the gun entirely with that 2030 bollocks. If we're just going to comfortably exist and maybe have a decent cup run every so often, then just say so. #NUFC

If nothing else, supporting Newcastle when Andy Cole was sold taught me never to idolise footballers. There’ve been sales since which have really annoyed me (Woodgate, Carroll, Cabaye, Isak) but nowhere near the same agony. Don’t give your heart away so easily. Players come and go. The club remains.

The vision is that PIF have decided to reduce their investment. I’ve no issue with that, no club should be able to blow others away because of their owners (although the ladder has been pulled up by two of them). However, if they can’t offer the dynamism required to progress they should move on.

Newcastle United have lost the best manager they’ve had in 50+ years, three of their best players, and now their captain and talisman. No new training ground or stadium is planned, but tonight they’re holding an interactive workshop to discuss tweaks to the club crest. Never change, United.

I don’t know if it’s the cartel of Big Six clubs that I hate or if it’s just their stupid pissy little fans with their ITK shtick and their YouTube channels and the absolute media love in because obviously no other clubs exist. On reflection it’s both. Fuck them all.

Being dead is not some kind of state line where, if you can just cross the border, all your trespasses evaporate. The flowers still wither where you poured salt. The living continue to suffer the consequences of your actions. People are entitled to say, he made the garden worse, and now he is gone.

I’m very much on the “don’t speak ill of the dead” side of civility but that doesn’t mean distorting what someone did with their life, particularly if they used their position to hurt others. Liddle was not a brilliant provocateur. He used misinformation to whip up hate against bedbound people.
