The statistics are in - Free Transit for under 18 users has had a dramatic effect this summer. Approximately 28,000 youth riders have made about 456,000 trips.  For comparison, in the summer of 2025, about 8,000 youth customers made about 130,000 trips. We worked for years to bring this in.

Had a great time at the Glebe Annex Community Association’s Party in the Park today! There was music, Ottawa 200th trivia, hot dogs, crepes, snacks and drinks. A beautiful day for it. Right beside the park is the brand new pedestrian cross walk we just installed. Thanks to all the organizers!

It was a great day in Heron Park. Great to join Councillor Shawn Menard and members of the community to celebrate the opening of the Heron Park Community Building. It’s a fantastic space, serving as a hub for activity, and more programming too.

Some big news for commuters and residents of Capital Ward: Bronson Ave (between Imperial and Findlay) is set to be resurfaced in June after our office requested action. The full underground water/sewer project is years away so a shave and pave is necessary.

Incredible turnout today to celebrate a major milestone for Heron Park - grand opening of a brand new community building. Special thanks to the HPCA, Clementine Food Pantry, SEO CHC, Safety Council, OC Transpo, city staff, and Scott the magician for helping to make our event so vibrant and fun!

Return-to-office policies at this time make no sense. We don’t have the transit capacity, we don’t have the office space, we don’t have the parking. Losing this greenspace – meant for recreation and physical health – to parking because of RTO is sad.

Free Transit for Youth (18 and under) starts July 1st of this year. This is going to help a lot of youth and families and I am so happy this is being achieved in our city.

Over the weekend we celebrated a huge community win. Saving People's Park! The result: The city won't spend $200 million on a freeway over the river (which would not reduce congestion), an important greenspace is preserved, and new affordable housing will be created.

The City of Ottawa posted the raw speed data from before and after Doug Ford banned speed cameras and the effect is so obvious it's not even necessary put a line marking when that happened. This chart shows the percentage of drivers going 15km/h or more over the posted limit.

The Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off Pilot- walk up, bike, roll, transit has been a huge success so far. 140 people by 11am with bins filling up. Still time to get to Brewer Park by 1pm (Sunday April 26th) and drop off hazardous items unsuitable for the landfill. Let’s make it permanent. :)
