$if you didn't know my dad, Peter, trust me you did if you've read my works. he was a seminal part of full-metal, Jonny, Making Love with the Land, my editorial approaches, & my two forthcoming works. he's the joyful motor, the translator of pain and ruin into joy and futurisms, that animates so much of my published work (though god knows i'm not always the best practitioner of it always yet). nearly everything i've tried to do has been in spite of what he was told he could never, but, perhaps more importantly, legacy work for him, the violences the 60s Scoop placed upon him/us, his mother (my grandmother's) place in MMIWG2S, & aiding him in achieving his own goals as a Cree man. everything i have, everything i've been able to share with Canadian & Indigenous literatures (& the research and pedagogies of them) is owed to my father. if i can have a fraction of his fortitude & drive whenever my time comes, i'll have felt i succeeded. that i touched the divine, something akin to god.$
